Chalice dusted off her shirt, sighing before grabbing her bag. "You boys ready? You two sure take your time." Chalice smirked, rolling her eyes. "You can wait, Chalice. Yeesh. This is a vacation for us after all." Cuphead said, fixing his shirt and belt. "I kinda wish we didn't have to dress this.. fancy though." He sighed, rolling up his sleeves before crossing his arms.
"I dunno, I look pretty great." Mugman bragged, fixing his jacket in the mirror while checking himself out. "See, Mugman gets it. He fucks with classy." Chalice smirked. "Sure do~" Mugman chuckled. "All I know is that the food better be worth the outfits, Ms. Chalice." Cuphead scoffed, rolling his eyes at the two. "Oh it definitely will. Hasn't let me down yet." Chalice said, smiling as they all headed out.
...
"This place sure is big for a diner." Mugman said, getting a weird vibe from the place. "Yeah.. kinda reminds me of somethin'." Cuphead said, getting the same vibe as Mugman. "Oh pssh, it's a nice place come on. It's just a bit, fancier than I remembered. Probably a new manager." Chalice said as Mugman held the door for both of them then followed after. "Yeah.. fancy.." Mugman thought.
"Table for 3." Chalice said as they got to the front desk. "Reservation for Ms. Chalice?" The worker asked, Chalice getting confused. "I never put a.." Chalice then thought before looking around for a moment. She locked eyes with a wolf who walked away after a small glance. Her cheeks warmed up out of embarrassment. Maybe even frustration. "Uh, Chalice? Everything alright?" Cuphead asked, Chalice cupping her own face as she took a breath. "The reservation is correct." Chalice finally admitted with a huff. "Great, I'll show you your seats. A tab was also opened so you can order as soon as everyone's ready." The worker smiled, Chalice burying her face in her hands. "Great. Let's go." Chalice said, almost defeated as she followed the worker. The boys followed after, giving each other the same confused look.
As the three took their seats and began looking over their menus. After they finished deciding Cuphead crossed his arms, leaning back in the chair, and letting his legs rest on the edge of the table. "Cuphead. Manners?" Mugman scolded, Cuphead not paying attention as he took in the scenery. "For the record Chalice, this place doesn't remind me of the isles at all. But you know what it does remind me of.." Cuphead said, Mugman's eye twitched from being ignored. "This place is decorated like the casino. At least when it existed." Cuphead said, sitting back up in his chair. "Thanks for ignoring me. Anyways, I agree. This place reminds me too much of the stupid casino. Maybe it's ptsd but I have a bad feeling." Mugman said, resting his cheek on his hand.
"Well originally that's what it reminded me of. And since it's the only piece of home I really know, I can't help but be reminded of the isles. It is how I met you dumbasses." Chalice smiled, Cuphead sitting up. "You're one to talk! Who sells their soul for some heel clicks?" Cuphead teased, Chalice's face getting flustered. "Cuphead , I'll strangle you dammit!" Chalice huffed, Mugman rubbing his brows. "You guys are both dumbasses. And I can't believe I'm stuck in the middle of it." Mugman scoffed, the two of them laughing about it. "Heh, at least we're out of that mess. I don't think I'll ever be over something like that." Cuphead smirked, fiddling with hands. "I'm glad I at least made it out because of you boys." Chalice smiled sweetly. "Yeah, and if we ever have to go through something like that again, we're not saving you this time." Mugman teased, Chalice rubbing the back of her head. "That's.. fair. But as far as we know, it's not like the casino will be back."
As they chatted more, A server approached the table. She took out her notepad and clicked her pen. "Welcome to Soulfuud. I'm Kandy and I'll be taking your.." Kandy started before seeing the table, her eyes caught onto Chalice's. 'no wonder they're so weird. They're around her.' Kandy thought to herself as she got a good look at them. Chalice holding her head down out of shame. 'This could maybe get me more privilege if I get to all three of them.. Devil would love to get his due of a traitor.' Kandy thought more before taking a breath. "Excuse me. I'll be taking your orders today." Kandy said, Mugman staring at her. "Sorry, is there something you need sir?" Kandy asked him, Mugman getting flustered as he didn't realize he was staring. " Sorry.. just, nothing." He smiled, Kandy internally annoyed. "Oh hey, you're the girl we saw at the clothing store. Kinda weird that you were in the men's section though. Maybe it's just preference." Cuphead smiled, Kandy feeling taken back.
"Hm. I don't remember your faces. Must have been someone else you saw. Here, I'll get your orders put in and it should take at most 15 minut-" Kandy started before getting cut off. "No no, it's not someone else. No one else had that large scar. It's bad ass. How'd you get it?" Cuphead continued, Mugman slapping him in the back of the head. "Excuse my brother. It's a rude question to ask." Mugman said quickly, Cuphead rubbing his head with a soft pain. "Ow! Sorry for being curious?"Cuphead scoffed. Kandy tilted her head at them, taking a mental note of their behaviors. "No it's fine. I get asked a lot. Simple sports accident from when I was a kid. Baseball bats aren't meant to be close to the face." Kandy said, her hands on her hips before she finally walked off. Mugman's face lit up as she told her story before walking off. He had the assumption she was like a warrior or maybe messed with bad people which left him on edge. Hearing it was just a casual accident made her seem more innocent. Chalice, who held their face down the entire time noticed Mugman's face.
Chalice began to worry.
