-1970-
She sat in the back of the van after one of their concerts. She's criss crossed as she watches Brian and Roger bicker about who knows what. That's when she sees Tim walk up. "I'm joining Humpy Bong. Who's in?" Tim asks.
"Humpy Bong?" Brian asks, confused as to why Tim brought it up.
"Humpy Bong." Tim echoes, nodding. "They're going places. They're gonna be big."
"Humpy Bong." Roger huffed. "You joking?" Brian shakes his head.
"Don't do it, Tim." Brian's voice sounding saddened.
"I'm sorry, guys." Tim said. "But we're not going anywhere with this. What? College gigs, pubs..." Tim sighs, "gotta give it a go." He picked up his case and stepped back, arms opened.
Roger looked at Brian, who had his arms crossed and looked at Tim like a disappointed mother. He then turns to look at Roger for a split second before they both turn to Tim. Tim just waves and leaves.
"Just like that?" Roger asks, both hands landing on his hips.
"He had his heart set on it, it seemed." Iris mumbled, looking between the two boys. "And I believe we should honor his wishes. Don't you both?" Brian looked at her, knowing she's correct.
"I do, Flower. But it's bloody stupid how he threw us in the mud like we didn't get him to this point." Roger huffs, sitting in the back of the van. He grabbed his pack of cigarettes and took one out.
"Maybe he's right. Maybe there is something more out there." Brian said, sittings beside Roger. Iris sits between them.
"We can now only wish him the best." Iris sighed.
An hour later-
Iris sees a man come up. "I think he's right." Roger mumbles his arm on his leg as he looks at Brian. "That show was a load of bollocks."
"Th... there was room for improvement. Yeah." Brian said.
"I got better things to do my Saturday nights." He put the cigarette to his lip and took a drag. "I can give you their names." He smiles. Brian looked at him, then looked away and then side eyed him. Iris is grossed out by what she just heard.
She drinks the rest of her soda and puts her head on her knee. "The band lasted..." She counts on her hand. "About 3 years."
"It was a good run." Brian sighed. The boy Iris saw walked up.
"Hey, enjoyed the show." The guy said with a slight head nod.
"Thanks, man." Brian nods.
"Thank you." Roger says after Brian.
"I've been following you for a while, actually." The guy said, putting a hand on his hip. "Smile," he said the group name, as if testing it out. "Makes since for a dental student." He points at Roger, who just stares at him. "And you're Astrophysics, aren't you?"
"Yeah..." Brian replied, unsure how this guy knows so much about them.
"Makes you the clever one." The guy laughs softly.
"Yeah, I suppose it does." Brian says, looking at Roger.
"Yeah..." Roger said, his tone more mocking.
"I study design here." He nods to the building.
"So do I." Iris smiles.
"Oh, you do?" Roger turns to look at her for a split moment, and she nods.
"Also, uhm, write songs." He pulled a piece of paper out of his back pocket and waved it around in a way. Brian looks down, and Roger gets closer to Iris. "Might be of interest of you. It's just a bit of fun, really."
The guy awkwardly laughs as he shoves the paper back into his pocket. "You're five minutes too late." Roger says.
"Our lead singer just quit." Brian sighed. The guys eyes widened as he looked between the three of them.
"So, then, you'll need someone new." The guy smiles, leaning more on his left side while he stands. His hands were clinching and unchlenching.
"Got any ideas?" Brian asks, holding a hand up. The guy puts his hand on his hip and turns his head, holding one up like a model.
"What about me?" The guy asks.
"Uh..." Roger tries not to laugh. "Not with those teeth, mate." Roger laughs. Iris pinches his side, making him move to the side. The instant movement made to van move. The guy starts walking off, and Roger takes a sip of his beer.
Then the guy turns back around, right hand on his right hip. "I know what I'm doing..." He sings, his eyes shut. "I got a feeling..." Everyone walking by was looking. "I should be doing alright." He hit the note as his finger rose to the air.
"Doing alright." They all three sung. Harmonizing perfectly. They all started chuckling.
"I was born with four additional insizers. More space in my mouth means more range." The guy said.
"I think he should join." Iris says.
"I'll consider your offer." The guy said. He put both hands in his back pocket and walked off.
"Do you play bass?" Brian yelled out. The guy tilted his head up and answered,
"Nope." As he kept walking.
"Iris, do you have class tomorrow?" Brian asks.
"Yeah, want me to find out his name?" She asks, looking between them.
"Would you. Aw. So sweet, like a doll." Brian said in a mocking type voice.
