As Y/n and Law left Evan River's dimly lit Room. The unsettling Clues From the Box Still Weighed Heavily in the Air. Y/n, who wiped away her tears just moments before, Masked her emotions under her tough exterior. Law led the way through the narrow Hallways of the apartment, deep in thought. His brows furrowed the mysterious DM0 case far from making sense, and with each new piece of the evidence, the truth seemed to slip further away.
Once outside, the night air was cool, and the flashing lights of the police vehicles Cast on eerie Glow ower the quite neighborhood. Shachi and Penguin arrived shortly after, their serious expressions showing they knew the gravity of the situation. They exchanged brief words with Law before heading up to Collect The Evidence from the Apartment.
Y/n leaned against the hood of one of the patrol Cars, Arms crossed, watching Law as he spoke with Shachi and Penguin.
She couldn't Shake the image of from the photo frame. Those Faces from her past memories she'd tried so hard to bury.
The half-cut hand in the box, the pills- it was all too familiar, too close to the truth she never wanted to confront.
But showing weakness in front of Law was the Last Thing she wanted, especially now, when the weight of her past was creeping up Again.
"y/n-ya" law called, breaking her from her thoughts. his voice was calm but a hint of urgency. "we need to move forward this investigation, Garp-san expecting us to report back soon. Whatever's happening with the DM0 group. it's only going to get worse from here".
Y/n nodded, pushing herself off the car. "what's the next move?" she asked, her tone indifferent though her mind raced with the personal connection she feared was tied to the case.
"we need to analyze the pills, they might be the key to linking Evan's death to the others, and the hand....." law trailed off glancing at her with a hint of suspicion. "There's more going on here then we know. i'll need to go back to the lab for some further testing, you're coming with me."
Y/n shrugged, following him as they walked back to law's car. the night felt heavier than ever. and the weight of the case mixed with her hidden past, made each step harder to take. as they drove back to the police station in silence, Y/n's mind driffted back to the photo frame and the little girl's face.
LAW P.O.V.
As I and Y/n made our way back to the car, Y/n's change in demeanor didn't go unnoticed by me, by her expressions i can tell something was off, i still remember the way she stared at the cans of pills earlier.....and her pained expression and trembling shoulders earlier when she was alone in Evan's room staring at the photo frame didn't go unnoticed by me as well, something about her was telling me that the closer we get with this case the more of her real will start revealing, she was clearly hiding something from me and police department, and the way she intracted with Garp-san, it felt like they both have some kind of bond that is still unrevealed, but what type of relation a high-ranked general officer like Garp-san will have with a criminal like Y/n?
