A second chance at love

Introduction

I wake up to the sound of my brother knocking down my door. Not literally but Jesus it sounds like he's really trying to knock it down.

"Get up you lazy butt" he yells still knocking at my door. I rolled my eyes and opened the door, throwing my pillow at my brother's head.

"You're so annoying." I closed the door and went to the bathroom to start getting ready for the day.

Today is my 18th birthday, it's the day I've been dreaming about for as long as I can remember. Today if I'm lucky I get to meet my mate. The one person who was made just for me. I say if I'm lucky because some wolves don't meet their mates right away some take years.

My parents are throwing me a party and inviting everyone we know, hopefully I do get to meet my mate. My dad is the Beta of the Gem Rose Pack, he's very respected and one of the strongest Beta's in the wolf community. My brother is about to take over once his training is all complete. So proud of that booger.

I have an older sister (Sarah) as well, she met her mate Austin when she turned 18. She moved into his pack BloodStone Pack. The most strongest pack there is. He's the Beta of the pack not as strong as dad but very much respected. Their Alpha Theo lost his mate 2 years ago, ever since then every pack is afraid of him. Every Alpha, Beta, Omega, and especially the Rouges. Theo became so heartless, takes no mercy on rouges.

Mostly every wolf understands him, losing your mate is the hardest thing to ever experience. Getting rejected is right up close to it though. It's like a piece of you has died. It's hard to overcome.

"SOPHIA!!!!" My mother yelled from down stairs. I run down to meet her.

"Good morning momma" she hugs me and kissing my cheek.

"Happy birthday my sweet girl!"

"Happy birthday baby girl."

"Happy birthday you lazy butt"

I rolled my eyes at my brother.

"Thank you guys" I grabbed a plate and started serving myself some food.

"I have everything ready for the party honey! I hope you find your mate" mom is more excited than I am I think.

I chuckled "it seems you're more excited than me mom".

"She's ready for some grandkids now that Stephan won't be giving us any anytime soon" dad said hitting Stephan on the back of his head.

"What's that supposed to mean?!" Stephan looks slightly offended.

I laughed and started to walk upstairs when all of a sudden I smelled the most delicious aroma I've ever smelled.

It smelled like a beautiful autumn day. I looked around and tried to find the person responsible for that beautiful smell.

"I tell you what, next time I'll let you win". I heard laughter coming for the living room. I walked in and everyone stopped to look at me.

"Oh Soph! Happy birthday!" My best friend Elizabeth engulfed me in a hug.

I couldn't get my eyes off my mate. The future Alpha of my pack. Alex. I see him staring at me too but instead of happiness in his eyes I see hatred and disgust. I stepped back feeling my heart break a little. I don't understand why my mate is looking at me like that.
