Heck, where am I? Taking in my surroundings, it looked like a horse stable. My eyes struggled to open, and I thought, Oh God, how did I let this big of a mistake happen?
But that wasn’t my primary concern at the moment. I needed to figure out where I was and how I had ended up in such a strange place.
For some reason, I couldn't figure out why the system was operational. Who would have set it up, knowing very well that it couldn't have been configured to any place or time without some form of human interaction? It didn’t make sense.
The more I thought about it, the more questions flooded my mind. Was I alone in this strange stable, or was someone else out there pulling the strings? The mystery deepened, and I felt a sense of unease creeping in.
From the three other people who had access to the lab, I couldn’t help but wonder who might have done this.
I groaned, kicking my legs in the air like a flailing fish.
This can't be happening! I gripped my hair in frustration, trying to stand up, but somehow my stupid legs got tangled in the rope making me face plant the floor
Ouch, my nose hurts like crap, and it's making my eyes tear up. This day really sucks—like, my whole existence feels like a bad joke right now.
I can see the horses looking at me weirdly from the side of the stable, their big eyes just staring at me.
Honestly, I probably look insane, flailing around like a fish out of water.
If only they knew what I was going through! I mean, come on, could this day get any worse? I just want to crawl into a hole and die
I won’t fall this time! Well, to be honest, I probably will, but let’s stay optimistic, right?
Standing up, I dust off my pants, and wait—my expensive suit has a hole? What the fickle frick?! This is just perfect
And my heels? Ugh, I love them to death! I can't let them get any scratches, not even if I die right here on the floor.
I’m going to protect my babies until my very last breath! I mean, come on, I’d rather faceplant again than let a tiny scratch ruin my fabulous heels.
I open my phone to check for internet, but of course, with my luck, it doesn’t work! Seriously, what is this, a cosmic conspiracy against me?
Help! Like, literally, I want to shout, cry, and maybe even throw my phone out of sheer frustration.
It’s like the universe is saying, “Oh, you thought today could get better? Think again” I just need a little connection to the outside world, or at least a meme to make me laugh!
Suddenly, the creaky wooden door of the stable swings open, and oh crap,
I almost have a heart attack But then my eyes widen when I see someone standing in front of me.
A HUMAN, I might add, and what a fine specimen he is
A tall man with dark eyes looking at me in confusion. Like, excuse me, sir, could you not look at me like I’m a circus act?
If it weren't for this ridiculous situation, I might have actually considered asking him on a date.
Is it love at first sight? I doubt it, but hey, a girl can dream
Right now, though, I’m just trying to keep it together and not embarrass myself further in front of this gorgeous stranger.
"My lady, who are you?" the deep voice resonated, causing me to blink in surprise.
In that moment, I realized I might have found my future husband
I couldn't help but think about taking a quick snapshot of him to send to my best friend, who would undoubtedly start naming our future children right away.
"Get a grip!" my inner voice scolded, but honestly, what could I do? Handsome men always seem to make me weak in the knees
Pathetic, I know.
His clothes were something else. Judging by that, I must have traveled to the past
"Hi, I'm Lili Brown. And you? Look, I know you’re probably confused right now, but even if I wanted to, I can't explain how I got here," I said nervously.
"I'm sorry I wasn’t stealing your horses, I swear my nervous rambling my cut of by a little laugh my head quickly whipped down
Way to embarrass myself
"Don't worry, miss! This stable is open for everyone. Usually, it's just your clothes that caught me off guard," he said, looking utterly confused, which was understandable.
"I’ve never seen this type of clothing, especially worn by a lady," he mumbled, glancing at my outfit with a mix of curiosity and bewilderment.
"It's cute, right?" I beamed, feeling proud. "You know, it's one of my favorite suits in my whole wardrobe
"It is," he said, smiling a little. Oh, that smile. But I shouldn't waste any time; I needed to get back as soon as possible. So, I blurted out the first thing that came to my mind.
"If you don't mind, sir, may I stay with you for a while?"
I slapped my hand to my mouth instantly. "What the heck, Lili?"
"You know what, forget it. I'm sorry. It's just that I lack a huge amount of brain cells to even think straight," I muttered, feeling a bit embarrassed by my impulsive request.
He remained silent, and it was my cue to silently get the heck out of here before I embarrass myself even more.
