"Mia..." A gentle voice accompanied a tap on my shoulder.

I wriggled, turning away.

"Mia...?" Another tap. "Please..." I murmured. I desperately wanted more sleep.

"Mia, wake up..." Whyyyy!

"Mia! It's past 11 am!" Chloe burst out.

My eyes flew open at her words. "What?!" I gasped in disbelief as I sat up immediately. "You heard me," she said flatly.

"Oh no!" I covered my face with my hand, mortified.

Turns out, taking sleeping pills was not a wise decision at all!

"Well... James and Kyle are waiting for you downstairs," she said as I looked at her.

"Actually, they're waiting for you and the cat," she corrected herself. That's when I remembered the events of last night. "James told me about the cat you guys found last night. I was astonished myself after knowing 'bout the cat. It's a pretty priced possession I must say." Chloe spoke as I was busy in trying to open my eyes wide. Yes, I was still sleepy.

"Hmm, can you please tell them I'll be there in 10 minutes?" I asked. "Yeah, sure, but... where's the cat?" she inquired. "He's right there—" I began, pointing to where Eddie had been sleeping the previous night, but I stopped mid-sentence. Eddie was no longer there. I walked over to the rug where he had been sleeping. Chloe followed.

"Mia... where?" Chloe asked, sounding confused. I checked under the bed, but it was empty. "He was here last night," I said, gesturing to the spot on the rug. "He was still here when I woke up in the middle of the night," I added, looking at Chloe, my face stricken with panic. "Don't worry, Mia, he must be around here somewhere," she said, her voice filled with concern too.

We began searching every nook of my room – the wardrobe, balcony, bathroom, and beyond. We even looked in places we knew he couldn't possibly be. "Mia, he's not here..." Chloe's words drew my attention. "How did he manage to leave the room?!" I cried out in disbelief. Every window of my room was shut tight, the balcony doors were locked.

"Hold on... when you came to wake me, was the door completely shut, or was it ajar?" I questioned her. An open door might explain his escape. "Actually, the door was closed when I arrived, but now that I think about it, I didn't see the cat," she responded. "He might have slipped out as I opened the door, without me noticing. He is quite the wildcat," she speculated. Damn it! Finding him in this vast mansion is going to be a hell of a task. "Yeah, maybe..." I conceded with a sigh.

"We should inform 'bout this to Kyle and James." Chloe stated, making me nod in response. "Yeah, let's go." I spoke, as we walked out of the room to go downstairs.

When I came downstairs, and as soon as those 2 males looked at me, they had an immediate frown on their faces. I bet I look like a mess. And if you still can't guess 'why'.... lemme tell you--

I was trying to be a so called 'responsible person' last night. And now, it's very clear that I'm not... a so called...................whatever.

I can't believe that I wasn't responsible enough to keep a cat safe, barely for even 24 hours. And not just any cat, a Scottish wild cat!  Which, my friends, if you find by any means, you're very lucky. But if something happens to it in your care....... you're very much doomed for life.

How can I be so fucking irresponsible!

'And I was accusing a person 14 hours ago, for being irresponsible and losing it'. I thought as I internally scoffed at my irresponsibility.
