Juliet and Connie made their way to Connie's house, still laughing from the absurdity of the game and Bombay's outburst.

The walk wasn't far, and they didn't rush, taking their time through the quiet neighborhood as the sun dipped lower in the sky.

When they reached Connie's front door, Juliet nudged her. "Think your mom will say yes?"

Connie grinned. "She never says no. Watch this."

Inside, they found Connie's mom in the kitchen, chopping vegetables for dinner.

"Hey, Mom," Connie called out. "Can I sleep over at Juliet's tonight?"

Connie's mom looked up from her chopping, a warm smile on her face. "Sure, sweetie. Just make sure you pack everything you need, okay?"

"Thanks!" Connie beamed, turning to Juliet. "Told you."

They dashed upstairs to Connie's room, quickly grabbing pajamas, a toothbrush, and a change of clothes. Connie tossed a few things into a small overnight bag, chatting all the while.

"So, what do you wanna do tonight? Movies? Snacks? The usual?" Connie asked, rummaging through her drawers for socks.

"Obviously," Juliet said with a laugh, sitting on Connie's bed and kicking her feet. "And maybe talk about a few things..."

"Oh, mysterious." Connie grinned. "Okay, let's go."

They headed out, walking the short distance to Juliet's house.

When they got there, Juliet's mom was already in the living room, reading. She looked up as the girls walked in.

"Hey, Mom, Connie's sleeping over. Is that cool?" Juliet asked casually.

"Of course, honey. You girls have fun tonight," her mom replied with a smile. "Just don't stay up too late, okay?"

"No promises," Juliet joked as they hurried upstairs to her room.

Once they got settled, Connie threw her bag on the floor and plopped onto Juliet's bed.

"Alright, let's get this sleepover started!"

Juliet grabbed a blanket and threw it over both of them, setting up a little fort with pillows.

The night started off with snacks—popcorn, candy, all the essentials—while they watched a movie playing in the background, but the conversation eventually shifted to boys, as it always did.

"So," Connie began, her voice light and teasing, "there's this guy I've been thinking about."

Juliet raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh, really? Who?"

Connie grinned, leaning back against the pillows. "Guy."

Juliet sat up straight, nearly spilling her popcorn. "Guy ? As in guy Germain! The guy who you hated but you'd stare at him ! I knew it ! Since when ?"

Connie nodded, laughing at Juliet's reaction. "Ever since we all jumped on Bombay's car that day.he sat next to me and I got butterfly's "

Juliet blinked. "He was there?"

Connie gave her a knowing look. "Juliet, he's always there."

Juliet smirked. "Iv always known."

"Shut up," Connie said, playfully hitting Juliet with a pillow. "But seriously, he's adorable. What about you? You were staring at Charlie all day at the game."

Juliet froze for a second, caught off guard. "What? No, I wasn't."

"Uh-huh, sure," Connie said, grinning. "You think he's cute, don't you?"

Juliet hesitated, her cheeks flushing a little. "I mean... maybe? I don't know. He looked kinda cute today, but I don't know if I like him like that."

Connie gasped dramatically. "Wait, you like him?!"

Juliet pulled the blanket over her face, laughing but feeling a little embarrassed. "I don't know! Maybe. I just... he's really nice. And yeah, he looked cute today. But he's my brothers best friend "

Connie leaned in closer, eyes wide with excitement. "So what if he's you brothers best friend it's a cute trope I can just see it know you'd look so cute together "

Juliet peeked out from under the blanket, rolling her eyes playfully. "Don't get any ideas "

They both laughed, their voices filling the room as the night wore on, surrounded by snacks, blankets, and the glow of the TV.

The sleepover was shaping up to be exactly what they needed—a break from hockey, from losing, and from everything else, just two friends talking about boys and being kids.

And that's what Juliet loved .
