Chapter 21: Maybe I should hire someone just to keep you busy

In Rose and Y/N's Apartment,

Rose was pacing back and forth with worry. The soft glow of the TV flickered, as Y/N sat on the couch, resting a pillow in her lap. She was watching a series, but her attention drifted occasionally to Rose.

Y/N: (finally speaking up) "Rose, you're going to wear out the carpet. Just sit down for a minute."

Rose: (stopping to face Y/N) "I can't! I can't believe this is happening. Just when I thought work was getting better, now they're talking about downsizing. What will I do if I lose my job?"

Y/N: (sighing) "Why do you think like that. Remember last year? You did a great job leading that project, why will they remove you?"

Rose: (pausing) "I was good back then. Now, I feel like I'm just waiting to be fired. I don't have much experience as compared to other employees. What if they really let me go?"

Y/N: (walking over and putting a hand on Rose's shoulder) "Listen to me. If they fire you, it doesn't mean you're not talented. It's their loss."

Rose: (looking away) "But it's not enough, I can't let my family see me fail again. They'll just start asking about marriage again, and I can't deal with that pressure."

Y/N: (frowning) "You're not failing, Rose. Fight for what you want show them what you are capable of so they won't even think about taking you out."

Rose: (sighing) "You really believe that, don't you?"

Y/N: (nodding) "Absolutely. You have what it takes to turn this around. Just focus on what you can control."

Rose: (hugging Y/N) "Thank you, Y/N. I needed this reminder."

Y/N: (rubbing her back) "That's the spirit! Just remember, whatever happens, you have my support."

Rose: (pulling back) "Okay, but I'm definitely not going to marry someone just to please my family."

Y/N: (chuckling) "I wouldn't expect anything less from you!"
