Finally, the day I had been dreading arrived. The day I am supposed to be presented as a commodity to the fae king.

My name is Eirwen Khione, the princess of the Elven Kingdom and the daughter of the king and queen. I turned 18 last month,  and I will be wed to the king of the Fae in a few months. It feels more like being sold if you ask me. Today, he and his officials will be coming to inspect the quality of the goods he is purchasing. My parents' marriage was never one of love. They were only greedy for power, and my brother and I were just byproducts of their greed. My brother, being the eldest and future heir, is living a much better life compared to mine. For me, it was never easy. From an early age, I was taught to be soft, docile, obedient, and submissive to men. They never let me learn elven archery or sword fighting. In normal elven society, women were always taught to fight, as they were never considered inferior to men in combat—maybe even better, but not the other way around. However, from the moment I was born, I was promised to be the fae kingdom's future queen and wed to the future fae king, Theron Dragomir. In the fae kingdom, women, especially fairies, are the most docile and submissive. They are not taught to fight but to love, cherish their husband, and take care of the kids. Our kingdoms have always been at odds with each other, and when it seemed like a war would break out, they formed a treaty for peace at the cost of my life.
