It was a rather boring view.
Everything was white or a shade of gray. There was not a single ounce of personality in there. The cold interior sent chills down Liliana’s spine. It was like she was here for the interrogation. Just a moment and a mean-looking nurse will come in and perform the examination for the mental asylum.
-Do you want some tea, Lana? Or maybe juice? I could give you water too, if you want.
It was not a place for crazy people. Well, maybe for a person. But it was all put together by him, nobody had forced it on William. He was just odd and a bit peculiar on some days. The weird feeling still lingered somewhere in Lila’s consciousness, but she shrugged it off and forced her attention on her friend. They knew each other for a few months, from the start of the semester.
-I’d die for a warm tea right now. It’s so cold today.- She shrugged her coat and hung it next to Will’s jumper. -It can be black with two spoons of sugar, thanks!
The flat was cold. It felt just like on the outside. Well, maybe without the wind and the large cover of snow. She took her heavy boots off and flexed her toes trying to bring circulation back.
-Have any slippers I can borrow?- She asked as she entered the small kitchen where her friend disappeared to fix them a drink.
The kitchen was a striking contrast to the rest of the flat. It was packed with small souvenirs from all over the world and little knick knacks stacked on the shelves. Will was leaning on the kitchen island and scrolling through his phone. The kettle was starting to whistle on the stove and made the boy jump and look up from the phone.
-Could you pour some tea? Max is pissed at me for not coming to his rehearsal even though I told him clearly that I had an important appointment he knew I needed to take.- Will sighed loudly and rubbed his eyes tiredly.- You know, he could at least pay some attention to things related to me.
Liliana poured the tea while Will went back to furiously typing on his phone. The steam from the coups fogged her glasses, but the smell was heavenly. Will's aunt always sends him packs of tea she particularly likes while on her trip around the world. All the colorful things scattered around the kitchen were some kind of gift from her.
-Here, your tea.- Liliana held the cup in front of Will, waiting for the brunette to take it from her. He was visibly agitated but signed and took the tea from her. They were sipping on their drinks when Liliana suddenly looked up and put her cup on the counter.
Something was really wrong. There was a ruckus in the corridor made by a lot of people. Judging by the sound, at least four people in heavy boots were getting closer to the flat they were in. Lily tensed, trying to concentrate on the footsteps and to judge the situation. She couldn't react on time when the doors to the flat got kicked out of the hinges and she along with Will slammed down onto the floor to hide behind the kitchen island.
Heavy steps could be heard getting closer and closer to them. Liliana put her hand on Will's mouth to shush any sound he could make. Slowly she leaned out of her hiding spot and the first thing she noticed were black eyes staring right at her. Next thing she remembered was a hit to the back of her head and blackness.
