Jax sat in her best friend's mom's car on the first day of school. Her best friend was sitting on her phone watching TikTok like normal next to her and her older brother Zander was sitting in the front seat. She was ready for the first day but was dreading it. Her ex had dumped her on her birthday and he was still going to be in the same school. She hoped she didn't have any classes with him but if she did she'd eventually get over it. She was happy that she was guaranteed classes with her best friend who had been there since the beginning.
She knew for a fact that she had lunch with her but the other classes were up in the air. The two friends had very different styles in a lot of things. Their clothing, Alexis, her best friend was a pure-blooded tom-boy through and through whereas when Jax finally got comfortable enough to show her true colors she was a girly girl and loved being one. They both enjoyed doing makeup, which Jax wore on a daily basis and Alexis like 3 times a week or whenever Jax asked her to. Jax loved wearing fake nails when hers didn't look very good, whereas Alexis didn't care and didn't like fake nails. Both girls like to paint their nails but like it differently. With Jax, it must always be glossy, and with Alexis, it normally is dull and plain.
"Ready for the first day?" Zander asked with a smirk towards his sister who didn't want to go to school.
"Shove off, Zander," Alexis said with an uninterested tone then she went back to her TikTok scrolling.
Jax forced a smile before returning to gazing out the window. She zoned out and didn't even realize that they had arrived at school already.
"Jax, come on," Alexis called as she got out of the car.
Jax snapped out of her daze and got out of the car as well. She followed her best friend to their shared homeroom in the band room. They walked into the band room and looked for their teacher Mr. Collins. When they spotted him, Alexis walked over to him to talk about what type of music they were gonna get that year. Jax on the other hand went to her locker which was kitty-corner from the band room. She opened her locker without any errors which didn't happen often. She placed her two binders in her locker and put her bag on the hook then shut her locker. She walked back into the band room. She watched as Alexis was talking to a tall boy who Jax barely recognized, he had a major glow-up over the summer. Jax walked over to Alexis with an expressionless face.
"Jax!" Alexis said in disbelief, "Look at Darius, he got so freaking tall, he used to be my height."
Jax just nodded, she had always been short to Alexis so having someone taller than her was slightly pissing her off. Darius turned and looked at Jax, he had a smile on his face that was genuine, which was surprising because what Jax had heard he was a playboy. His messy hair made his face charming.
