Enjoy!

- - -

I throw my jacket onto the hook and drop my bag onto the ground.

"Sylus! I'm hooome!" I yell as I walk through my large hallway into the living room.

"Sylus? Are you home?"

"I'm here, kitten."

I turn to the door of my bedroom. He is standing there, his hands gripping the doorframe, leaning against it with a playful smile as he walks toward me.

"Sylus!" I walk to him and meet him halfway, reaching for his hands. He takes them, drags them behind him and puts them on his back, then he uses his own hands to cup my face. Leaning in, he rubs his thumb across my cheek.

"Your eyes sparkle like stars in the sky, kitten."

I giggle. "You say that every time!" I lean in and give him a quick kiss on the lips.

"I got invited to go out for drinks."

"How exciting. From who?"

"Tara. I'm leaving at eight."

I let go of him, seeing him frowning briefly, and step to the bathroom door.

"I'm going to take a shower. Is there something to eat?"

"I wasn't sure what you'd like to eat, so I made you a few options."

"Is fish curry one of them, by chance?"

"Yes, it is."

"Thank you, Sylus."

After my shower, I put on my cozy at-home clothes that always hang on the rack next to the sink and step back into the living room. The aroma of chilli, curry and fish was hugging me like a warm embrace - just like Sylus. I step into the kitchen where he's busy chopping green onions, looking like a professional chef.

"Dinner is ready, sweetie. Sit down." He nods towards the high bar stool at the kitchen island.

"It smells amazing. You are an incredible cook."

I smile at him, sitting down and resting my chin an my hand. He chuckles, his focus not leaving the food.

My eyes drift around the rim of the kitchen counter, over to the carpet to the floor-to-ceiling window of my penthouse. It's around 7 p.m. on a Friday, and the city outside is just waking up. I hear voices, cars, motorcycles. A siren in howling in the distance.

I hope whoever needs help is going to be okay.

"Here." I turn to see Sylus, sliding me a bowl with rice and white fish filet in a white curry, garnished with red chilli oil, green onion, lemon zest and coriander. He places a spoon next to it, throws the kitchen towel over his shoulder and leans on the kitchen counter, his arms crossed.

"Thank you, Sylus. It looks amazing."

"Only the best for my love." He replies with a soft smile.

I take a spoonful, but then I notice the mess in the kitchen - dirty knives, cutting boards, and a greasy stove. Normally, Sylus always cleans after himself.

"Did you cook this while I was in the shower?" I ask, taking a bite. The fish was tender, melting on my tongue, the sauce was rich, fragrant and spicy, the rice was warm and perfectly cooked.

"Well, I can't let my kitten starve, can I?"

"I could've just eaten what you already prepared."

He leans forward, placing his hands on the counter, and locks his intense red eyes with mine.
