"My dear... Are you all right?"

Y/N felt a soft tap on her shoulder, dragging her back from the haze of unconsciousness. Her heavy eyelids fluttered open, and she straightened her head with effort.

A concerned old woman on the train leaned toward her, her kind face wrinkled with worry.

"You don't look well, dear. Sweating, pale, and your lips are dry as dust... Are you sure you're all right?"

Y/N gave a weak, strained smile. "I'm fine... just tired, ma'am. Really." She tried to brush off the concern but could barely keep her eyes open. "Oh, I need to get off... This is my stop..."

The train screeched to a halt at the Linkon City subway station. Y/N muttered a small thank you to the old lady before rising unsteadily to her feet. The bustling crowd swept her along as if she were a leaf on a river current.

'I can't collapse now. I have to keep moving.'

Her breath came in shallow gasps as she limped through the throng, her body screaming with every step. The fever had taken a brutal toll, and she felt as though she were moving through a foggy dreamscape.

'Kyle must be worried sick. My phone's been dead since yesterday... I have to reach him.'

Each breath burned her lungs as she forced herself forward, the world swaying and spinning around her. Familiar landmarks blurred in her vision—the same street signs and cafes she always passed on her way to Akso Hospital, where Kyle was waiting for her.

'Just a little more... a few more steps.'

The towering structure of Akso Hospital loomed in the distance, its glass facade reflecting the sunlight like a beacon. It was right there, just across the street, but her body betrayed her.

* THUD ! *

Y/N collapsed onto the ground, her vision going dark as the fever overtook her. She lay crumpled on the pavement, her will exhausted. A small crowd of onlookers gathered around her, murmuring and pointing.

A tall man in a police uniform broke through the crowd, kneeling beside her. His sharp blue eyes widened in alarm as he felt the heat radiating from her skin.

"Miss! Hey, stay with me!" He tapped her cheek gently, but she was too far gone to respond.

With no hesitation, the officer scooped her into his arms, her limp hand dangling in the air.

"Move aside! She needs help!"

He strode toward Akso Hospital, cutting through the crowd like a knife, urgency driving every step. The weight in his arms didn't slow him; if anything, it made him move faster.

"Make way! She collapsed with a high fever—someone get a doctor now!"

**********

"Kyle... Can I ask you something?"

"What is it, doctor?"

"Your sister...Y/N... Do you know where she works normally?"

"Huh?? Why are you asking me that suddenly?"

"Just... I'm just curious."

Kyle kept looking at doctor Zayne with a surprise. He was never curious about personal things like this. Unless it's something related to a sickness. On top of that, Y/N didn't even send a single message since yesterday to Kyle. He was worried about it as well.
