The next morning, Percy wakes up he notices that she hasn't gotten up yet. He decides to let her sleep in, Knowing that she probably did not have a good night's rest in a while. He tiptoes out of the cabin, leaving her a note, saying he's going out to the dining pavilion to get breakfast for them. The air was crisp and cool hinting at the approaching fall.
As he walked through the quiet camp, The usual, sounds of demigods training and preparing, for the day seemed muted. His mind was preoccupied with the revelation of the night before. Hera, the mighty queen of the gods, seeking comfort in his arms? It's a lot to process, but he can't shake the feeling that he wants to be there for her.
When he returns to the cabin with a tray laden with food, Hera is awake, sitting on the edge of the bed, her long, golden hair cascading down her back. She looks at him with a mix of embarrassment and gratitude. "I shouldn't have..." she starts, but Percy shakes his head, setting the tray on a small table. With Percy's shirt on she sits with her legs curled up underneath her, she looks more mortal than a goddess. This is all for you. I already ate. That's why I am later than normal.
Her eyes widened Zeus never shared his food with me she pouts I barely get to eat up there. He eats everything
Percy smiles reassuringly, setting the tray in front of her "Don't worry about it" he says "I don't mind at all" he pours her coffee that's infused with ambrosia and nectar.
Hera takes a tentative sip, feeling the warmth spread through her. She hadn't realized how much she needed this, someone to care about her feelings. "Thank you", she mummers, looking into her cup as if the answers to her problems could be might found in there.
Percy nods, his eyes thoughtful. He does not see gods in such distress, especially not the powerful queen of the gods. "Why don't you tell me about it?" He suggests. "Maybe talking about it will help."
Hera looks at him, considering. For a long moment, she stayed silent, then she started to speak. She tells him about the whispers in Olympus. The look of pity from the other gods, the humiliation, of being married to someone who publicly disregards their vows. Percy listens his expression sympathetic as she pours her heart out.
She breaks down in his arms, her sobs shaking her entire frame. Percy wraps his arms around her, surprised by his compassion he's never seen her like this before - so human, so broken. he feels a strange kinship with her, understanding the pain of someone who's supposed to protect you.
He takes off her shirt and traces her spine, drawing circles down her spine to soothe her. Her skin is cool at the touch, despite the warmth of her tears. His fingers moved gently, and she leaned into his touch the tension in her body slowly releasing.
Hara baby I'll be back. I'm going to stand up for myself and divorce him so we can be together Divorce Zeus? The idea seems almost comical, given the magnitude of their relationship and the chaos it would cause. But the seriousness in Hera leaves no room for humor.
ZEUS she slaps him I'm done being with you and being the goddess of marriage and all that. You've made a mockery of it.
Percy watches as the scene unfolds he's torn between his loyalty to his father and his sympathy for Hera. He's never seen the gods act so...human. It's unsettling, yet strangely fascinating.
Percy, still holding Hera in his arms, looks up at Poseidon with a mix of defiance "what Zeus has done to you all" he looks at the council then looks at Hera in his arms.
Poseidon's eyes widened in shock "What are you saying, boy?" he asked, his voice gruff.
Percy met his gaze, his own eyes steely. "I'm saying that Hera deserves better then this" he replies his voice firm "we all do"
Hera jumps on Percy in front of everyone and wraps her legs around his waist, her nails digging into his back. She whispers in his ear, her voice filled with desperation. "Take me away from here. Please."
Percy, caught off guard by her sudden move, looks around at the stunned faces of the gods. But their shock quickly turns to anger as they realize what's happening. The air crackles with tension as Zeus's eyes narrow dangerously at the sight of his wife in the arms of another man.
"You dare defy me, son of Poseidon?" Zeus thunders, his voice shaking the very foundations of Olympus.
Hera does something that shocks everyone she throws her ring at Zeus and says she's done with his crap.
The gold band sails through the air, a silent declaration of war against the king of the gods. It hits Zeus in the chest with a resounding clank, bouncing off and rolling away into the shadows. The gods gasp, their whispers a cacophony of shock and disbelief.
Percy can we go home now she said with a whine in her voice, her nails still digging into his back.
He nods, his arms tightening around her. "Let's go," he murmurs, his voice low and soothing. He stands, lifting her effortlessly, and begins to make his way out of the throne room, ignoring the protests and threats that follow them.
