Pulling up at school, I sighed. I was mad at the weather right now, it was crappy out so practice would be in the gym. I got out and ran for the gym doors.
My leg didn't even look like or feel like someone bit it, anymore.
Stepping into the gym I walked over by the girls and changed my shoes. "Why does it have to be gross out?" I asked tying my shoe laces.
"Because God is mad at us," Lily mumbled next to me.
"Girls! Take four laps around the gym to warm-up!" Our couch yelled.
We groaned as we all stood up and did our laps.
On our last lap, the doors opened and a small girl walked in with her hood up. She was shaking, "Sorry I'm late." She mumbled walking over to where all of our bags were.
"Jessica, take your four laps around the gym. We now have to wait for you!" The other coach, Ms. Lu said.
The girl, Jessica, started to run her laps around the laps.
"She's really short," Kayla said looking at Jessica.
"Hey, it doesn't mean she is bad a cheerleading." I said also watching Jessica.
"That's not what I'm saying. What I meant was that I bet she is good. Short girls are always really good at all the gymnastic tricks." Kayla said defending. "And easier to throw in the air."
"But as I saw yesterday, I didn't see Jessica but the other girls....weren't that good." Reni whispered.
"Hey, give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she is really good." I said as Jessica finished the last lap.
"GIRLS! Since it is crappy outside, we decided that we would see what you girls can all do individually!" The coaches yelled.
We set out a bunch of mats. Then formed a line behind the coaches.
"Okay we will start it out easy and you will just do a somersault." Coach Mary say.
So one by one we did a somersault. Then we moved onto harder and harder stuff.
We got to flips and only my friends and I could do it and Jessica.
Actually Jessica had been really good at everything we have done.
I walked back by her after practice, "Wow you're really good."
She laughed, "Not as good as you but yeah I know what I'm doing."
"Hey, if you aren't doing anything my friends and I want you to come with us to get lunch. Want to come?" I asked looking at her.
"Yeah sure I'll come with you but I don't have a car." She said getting softer towards the end like she was embarrassed.
"That's alright," I said smiling at her.
The girls came up behind me. "So is she game?" Kayla asked.
"Yep, she's game! I'm giving her a ride there," I said putting my arm around Jessica.
She grabbed her bag and walked with us out to our cars. When I got into the car, I grabbed a bag from the back of my car. I grabbed two t-shirts out of the bag, tossed one of them to Jessica. "Here, put this on so your not in your dirty practice shirt."
She looked at the shirt before grabbing it and checking the size. I was slipping off my practice shirt when I noticed her looking at me.
"You going to put it on?" I asked slipping on my shirt.
She nodded and took off her shirt to put on the new shirt. I started the car and followed behind the girls to a little sub station.
I parked the car in front of the little shop and we all walked in.
