Chapter 3: Seoul's Familiar Embrace - A Heart's Homecoming
As Jungkook's plane touched down in Seoul, the city's vibrant energy enveloped him like a warm, comforting blanket, stirring emotions he thought he'd long buried. The familiar landscape unfolding outside the window was a poignant reminder of memories he'd tried to leave behind.
The drive to his hotel was a blur, Jungkook's thoughts consumed by the city's nostalgic allure. Seoul's skyscrapers, once symbols of progress and innovation, now seemed like sentinels guarding the past, their peaks shrouded in a misty veil of remembrance.
Upon checking in, Jungkook retreated to his room, the silence a welcome respite from the cacophony of emotions swirling within. He gazed out the window, Seoul's twinkling lights a mesmerizing dance of color and light, a reminder of the city's pulsing heart.
As he unpacked, his phone buzzed with a text from Sophia: "All set for the Lee-Choi wedding. Meet the clients tomorrow at 10 AM." The familiar rhythm of work provided a temporary distraction from the turmoil brewing inside.
Jungkook's mind began to wander, his thoughts drifting to Jimin, the one person he'd avoided thinking about. Their friendship, once strong and unbreakable, had frayed after Minsoo's passing, leaving behind a tangled web of unresolved emotions.
A sudden knock on the door broke the spell, shattering the fragile calm.
"Room service," a soft, melodious voice called out.
Jungkook opened the door to find a young staff member holding a tray, a gentle smile illuminating her face. "Compliments of the hotel, sir. A welcome gift."
As the staff member departed, Jungkook's eyes fell upon the tray. A small, exquisitely crafted cake sat beside a note, its simplicity belied by the turmoil it unleashed within him:
"Welcome back, Jungkook. -J"
His heart skipped a beat, the letters dancing before his eyes like a whispered promise. The familiarity of the handwriting, the subtle curve of the "J," awakened a deep longing, a sense of homecoming.
Jungkook's fingers trembled as he picked up the note, the paper warm against his skin. The words seemed to sear themselves into his soul, rekindling embers he thought had long gone cold.
For a moment, he allowed himself to be swept away by the tide of emotions. Memories of Jimin, of their laughter, their tears, their whispered secrets, flooded his mind.
The past and present collided, leaving Jungkook breathless, his heart pounding in anticipation.
Who had sent this? Was it truly Jimin?
And what did it mean?
