Chapter 11

"What the fuck is going on here?" Carol demanded looking at the scene before her. Dylan was shaking with adrenaline. Larry was frozen mid slap. He had hold of Nico by the collar of his shirt.
"Oh, er, hey honey." Larry stuttered. "We need to talk before you speak to these 2." Dylan laughed. If therapy had taught her anything, it was to be assertive and in complete control of herself.
All heads swivelled towards her.
"Oh, Larry Larry Larry. You really do live in your own world, don't you?" Dylan was standing with her arms folded, looking at Larry.
"Well, Mom, Larry here was sent by Owen to try and talk me round to getting back together with him."
"Is this true?" Carol directed at Larry.
Larry couldn't look Carol in the eye. He let go of Nico.
"Is. This. True?" Carol repeated more sharply. Larry whimpered and then glowered at Dylan again.
"Yes." Larry answered in a low voice.
"Get out!" Carol said and pointed towards the front door.
"Carol, please!" Larry begged." I love you!" Carol looked at him and scoffed.
"Any feelings I had for you disappeared the moment I found out about your treachery. You abused my trust to get to my daughter. Then I find you about to assault my son!" At this point, the police pulled up. Dylan went to talk to them, as did Nico.
The 2 officers arrested Larry and took him away. Dylan closed the door and hugged Nico. They walked back into the living room.
"I am,so sorry, kids." Carol said, weeping.
"Mom, this isn't your fault." Dylan said.
"Yea, Mom, don't beat yourself up about it." Nico chimed in.
"He's a good actor. The only one he didn't have fooled was Nico. He saw right through him. He went with his gut." Dylan said.
Carol hugged her children to her and then went to get a bath. Dylan and Nico decided to play some Dead by Daylight.

Dylan was enjoying her time in Philadelphia so much. She forgot how much she missed it. The sights, the sounds, the smells. Betty and Augustine returned to see their folks. All 3 of them met up, and Dylan caught them both up on what had been happening. Once Dylan had told her 2 best friends, she put it into group chat.
'Baby, are you ok?' Brendon asked. He was in Australia at the moment.
'I am Bren. It's the lengths that Owen is going to, to try and get back into my life.'
'Would a restraining order work?' Nicole asked.
'Hmmm, I don't know 🤔'
'I will call our lawyer and see what's what.' Brendon typed.
'Good idea, Brendon.' Mike said.
Dylan put her phone away and went to meet her friends to go to a movie.
The 3 friends met up at the mall and went over to the movie theatre. As they paid to see Terrifier, Dylan Nico ahead of them with Katy. He had an arm around her. Dylan nudged Betty and Augustine and nodded in her brothers direction.
"Aww, that's so cute." Betty said.
"Nico has a girlfriend." Augustine was gushing over the blossoming romance. Dylan also thought it was cute, but she was concerned. Nico was so young, and so was Katy. When did she become her mother? This reminded her of when she was that age and getting into boys. Of course, the only boy she had a relationship with at that time was Owen.
No wonder her mother worried. Dylan told Owen that she wanted to wait, though, until she thought she was ready to take that intimate step. Back then, Owen was kind and had no objections to waiting.
All 3 of them went to get some popcorn and soda. As they were about to enter the screen number, Dylan felt her phone vibrate against her hip. She would look later. She was having far too much fun with her friends right now.

They all came out of the theatre, not sure how to feel about what they all just watched.
"Do I laugh? Do I cry? Do I feel disgusted?" Betty pondered.
"Dylan!" She spun around and saw Nico.
"Hey!" She said.
"Are you heading home now?" Dylan nodded.
"Cool, can we get a ride?" Nico asked.
"Sure." Dylan replied. She said goodbye to her friends and they walked to the parking lot.
"Are you going home or coming back to our house?" Dylan asked Katy.
"She's coming back to our house for a bit." Nico answered. Dylan nodded and started the car. Music filled the car. Fall Out Boy. They all sang along to 'She's my Winona.' Nico was in the passenger seat. He kept looking back at Katy and smiling at her. Katy blushed and looked out of the window.
