Birth of an angel

I was born to human parents who were seemingly ordinary people. So it never made sense to me why I always felt like I was missing important data that would be able to help me understand everything that everyone else seemed to understand without saying anything to each other. Every person I talked to, anywhere I went, people spoke in code that somehow only I couldn't decipher.
I haven't been able to shake the feeling that they would find me out. I didn't want to know what would happen if they knew that I tried and tried and didn't understand anything, ever. I have learned that people are the scariest when they are armed with knowledge about you. Once they know there's a crack in the mountain, they will join forces and attack again and again until it becomes a landslide or crumbles entirely.
Even ordinary seeming humans enjoy the sights and sounds of others' misery.  It is strange how often they will get together to go over the miseries of another.
When I think about how I have to live this way for longer, the horror that fills me is remarkable.
