Clara Jensen arrived at the park with a whirlwind of emotions swirling inside her—anxiety, anticipation, and a flicker of hope. The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm golden light over the trees, but she hardly noticed the beauty around her. Her mind was fixated on Lucy's whereabouts and the possibility that they might finally uncover the truth.

As she walked along the gravel path, Clara spotted Emily sitting on a bench, her fingers nervously tapping against her phone. Clara rushed over, her heart racing. "Did you really find someone who knows where Lucy is?"

Emily looked up, her expression a mix of worry and excitement. "Yes! I spoke with one of Lucy's old friends from the support group. She said Lucy mentioned wanting to go to a retreat for a while. It's a place that focuses on mental health and wellness."

Clara felt a rush of hope. "A retreat? Do you know where it is?"

Emily nodded. "It's about an hour's drive from here. I didn't get all the details, but she said Lucy was struggling and wanted to find some peace. It was a last-minute decision."

"What if she's still there?" Clara's voice trembled with both fear and hope. "We have to go see if she is."

"Let's drive there now," Emily urged, determination shining in her eyes.

Clara felt a surge of adrenaline as they raced back to her car. The prospect of finding Lucy filled her with urgency. They drove through the dimming streets, the car filled with a tense silence punctuated only by the sound of the engine and the soft hum of the radio.

After an hour of winding roads, they arrived at the retreat, a secluded building nestled among towering pines. The exterior exuded a sense of tranquility, with a warm glow spilling from the windows. Clara's heart raced as they parked the car and approached the entrance.

As they walked inside, the atmosphere shifted from anxious anticipation to a serene calm. The retreat was peaceful, with soft instrumental music playing in the background. The receptionist greeted them with a gentle smile, but Clara's heart sank as she learned that Lucy was not currently at the facility.

"She left a few days ago," the receptionist informed them, her voice soothing yet tinged with concern. "She seemed to be struggling but was determined to work through her issues on her own. I hope she's okay."

Clara felt a wave of disappointment crash over her. "Do you know where she went?"

The receptionist shook her head. "I'm sorry. We can't disclose that information. But I recommend reaching out to her family or friends. Maybe they have more insight."

Clara turned to Emily, the weight of helplessness pressing down on her chest. "What do we do now?"

"Let's reach out to that friend again," Emily suggested, pulling out her phone. "Maybe she can give us more details about where Lucy might have gone after leaving here."

They stepped outside, the fresh air washing over them. As Emily dialed, Clara took a moment to gather her thoughts, pacing nervously along the path. She couldn't shake the feeling that they were running out of time. They needed to find Lucy before it was too late.

"Hello? Yes, this is Emily," she heard Emily say, her voice steady but filled with urgency. "I'm looking for information about Lucy. We're really worried about her..."

Clara's heart pounded in her chest as she waited for Emily to finish the call. She glanced at the retreat, hoping for a sign that Lucy was safe. Moments later, Emily hung up, her expression a mix of frustration and concern.

"She said Lucy mentioned something about needing to clear her mind and going to a cabin in the woods, but she didn't know the exact location," Emily said, her brow furrowed. "I think we should try to find that cabin."

"Do you think it's far from here?" Clara asked, her mind racing. "We have to try. If Lucy is there, we can't just leave her alone."

Emily nodded, determination igniting in her eyes. "Let's search online for any cabins nearby. We might get lucky and find something."

They hopped back into Clara's car, the urgency of the moment propelling them forward. As they drove, Clara pulled up maps on her phone, trying to pinpoint potential cabins in the area. "There's a small rental place not far from here. Let's check it out."

The drive felt like an eternity, but Clara's hope flared again as they approached the rental property. It was a charming cabin, nestled among tall trees with a welcoming porch. The exterior felt warm and inviting, but Clara's heart sank again when they discovered it was empty.

"Maybe we should knock?" Emily suggested hesitantly.

Clara nodded, her heart racing as they approached the door. She knocked gently, praying that Lucy would answer. The minutes stretched on, and Clara felt a knot of dread tightening in her stomach.

Just as she was about to give up, the door creaked open, revealing an older man with a concerned look on his face. "Can I help you?"

"Hi! We're looking for our friend, Lucy. She may have come here to stay for a while," Clara explained, her voice trembling with urgency.

The man's brow furrowed. "I remember her. She was here for a short time but left a few days ago. She seemed troubled but was determined to figure things out."

Clara's heart sank again. "Did she say where she was going?"

The man shook his head. "She didn't mention any specific place. She just seemed to need some space. I'm really sorry."

Clara's mind raced, desperately trying to piece together where Lucy could be. She felt an overwhelming urge to keep searching, to not give up hope. "We have to find her. She needs us."

As they drove back toward town, Clara's mind was filled with possibilities. What if Lucy was staying with someone else? What if she was lost in her own mind, trying to escape the weight of everything?

Determined to uncover the truth, Clara decided to pay a visit to the support group Lucy had been part of. "Maybe someone there can give us more insight into what she was feeling," she suggested to Emily.

Emily nodded. "Let's do it. We can't stop until we find her."

The sun dipped below the horizon as they made their way to the support group's location, the shadows stretching around them. Clara felt a sense of urgency coursing through her veins. They had to find Lucy before she slipped further away.
