❣︎ - September 9, 1999 𑁍 - The mtv awards
Aaliyah got off the limo and smiled. The crowd screamed and cheered.
Daphne got off after aaliyah and waved at everybody. The crowd cheeredand screamed some more.
"Hi aaliyah, Hi daphne", said an interviewer.
"Hello", said daphne and smiled.
"Hi", said aaliyah and smiled.
"Are you excited for tonight?", asked the interviewer.
"We are", replied daphne with a smile.
"Do you expect to see the singers you collaborated with on your recent album?", asked the interviewer.
"Yeah, Ican'twait to see them again", replied daphne with a smile.
Aaliyah wrapped her arm around daphne.
Daphne laughed and wrapped her arm around aaliyah.
"Your friendship is absolutely everything, can you tell us how you met?", asked the interviewer.
"We met back in 95', at the soul train lady of soul awards, we just met when I won an award for best new artist, she said my name and I went on stage to accept the award and after the show we talked and exchanged numbers", replied daphne.
"How wonderful, thank you, well have fun and hope you win", said the interviewer.
"Thank you", said aaliyah.
"It was nice talking to you", said daphne with a smile.
Aaliyah and daphne walked away, they entered the building.
Daphne gasped and made her way over to tlc.
"Hi, oh my gosh, you all look so pretty", said daphne.
Lisaturned around and hugged daphne.
"Hi, good to see you", said tionne.
"How are you?", asked rozonda.
"I'm good, and you?", replied daphne.
Lisa wrapped her arm around daphne and stared at her.
"We're good", said tionne with a smile.
"Picture ladies?", asked the photographer.
"Yes", Lisa.
Daphne stood between tionne and lisa, rozonda next to lisa.
The photographer snapped a photo.
"Thank you", said daphne.
"Good luck", said tionne.
"Oh thank you", said daphne and laughed.
"Give me a kiss", said lisa.
Daphne pecked lisa's cheek. Lisa smiled.
"Bye", said daphne and walked away.
Aaliyah reached daphne with a smile.
"I found our seats", said aaliyah and linked arms with daphne.
"Let's go sit down", said daphne.
Daphne and aaliyah sat down and many artists won awards like tlc, eminem, madonna, backstreet boys, lauryn hill, and more.
Prince and david bowie stepped onto the stage.
Everyone screamed and cheered.
They reached the microphone stand.
Prince held an envelope.
"Good night everybody, we are very happy to be here on the stage announcing our next winner for the 1999 mtv awards", said david on to the microphone.
"I'm just going to open the envelope", said prince.
Everyone laughed and cheered.
Prince opened it and looked at david.
"Daphne jackson for real love", said david.
Everyone cheered and clapped.
Daphne stood up with a smile. Aaliyah hugged her.
Daphne smiled and hugged her back.
She made her wayto the stage and reached prince and david.
Prince stepped aside and clapped.
Daphne hugged david then prince and accepted her award.
Daphne made her way towards the microphone stand.
"Thank you mtv! Wow, I'm shocked, first I wanna thank my family, including my parents, and the fans, thank you, I love you all so much", said daphne.
Everyone cheered and screamed.
Daphne waved and left the stage.
After the show ended, daphne won one more award and gave a speech how she is going to give the award to her best friend aaliyah, she received a standing ovation of five minutes, the photographers snapped photos of daphne giving her mtv award to aaliyah.
