Once reaching shoreline, LInk stored the ship, which Link now calls the moon wing,

"five days at sea and another six days back in the woods... I wonder how long it would take to reach a town or city... Is there even a way out of this?"

Link had been walking for quite a while, but I didn't feel all that tired; it was because of the bear shoes. Then her ears picked up a faint sound.

"Was that... a cry?"

Out of the blue, he heard a desperate voice in the distance.

"Someone, help..."

Link could hear someone's voice. She figured it could be dangerous to get involved, but it was her first time hearing another person here. Knowing the risks, she chased after the sound and entered a narrow clearing. Under the shade of a tree, a small girl was being attacked by a monster.

"What I...?!" Link's new body seemed to have good hearing, as she could clearly hear the girl's screams.

The little girl had probably accidentally wandered into the territory of some wild and aggressive animal.

The monster was an enormous red grizzly bear, likely three times the size of Link. The girl had already fallen on her rear and desperately tried to push herself further away from the bear.

Even in such a dire situation, the girl held tightly onto a basket filled with plants; they seemed indispensable to her for one reason or another.

Soon after, the bear swung its arm at the girl.

Seeing the bear's terrible claws approaching, the girl sensed her impending doom and averted her face, tightly closing her eyes...

Bang, bang, bang. Link had fired all ten spikes from the gun's mag before reloading it.

That was enough to alter its movement slightly, the claws tearing through the ground next to the girl.

Link's backpack is unique because it allows Link to put things in it, like the empty mag, without opening it and pull things out, like a new full mag, just by thinking of what she wants.

"...I can probably handle this."

"S-stop... just forget about me and run!"

"You say that, but I don't know where to go... I don't want to lose the only source of information I've gotten!"

The shots earlier made the bear shift focus to Link. The bear raised on its hind legs and roared. Link, not missing this, fired the full mag into the body of the bear; this caused the bear to charge ahead like a bullet toward

"... It's fast."

Link remembers that Grizzly bears are the fastest of the Ursidae family and can sprint at top speeds of 35 mph to 40 mph. While they can't maintain this top speed very long, their ability to sprint fast and maintain high speeds makes them exceptionally effective predators, though Link doesn't know if that applies to the bear here.

Link leaped out of the way of the charging bear and landed, her feet drawing wide arcs on the ground as she stabilized herself and quickly turned to look at the bear again, where Link saw the bear had crashed into a tree with branches sticking out of its back.

"Grr...gh...kh..?" What that, the bear had died.

"Huh? It looked like the bear is dead now. Are you okay?" Link approached the girl with dark hair, who was about ten years old.

"Ye...ah... Wait, you're a girl?!"

The girl exclaims in shock after looking up at her saviour, reminding Link that his body is a girl now.

"So are you, Sherlock."

"Oh, right..."

"Are you alone?"

"Oh, yes. My mom is sick, so I was looking for medicinal herbs."

"A little girl like you?"

"You don't look much older than me!"

"........" Link took some severe mental damage.

"Are you okay?"

"...yeah... you're were saying?..."

"We have no money, so I gathered them in the forest because we couldn't buy them in the city. Then the bear attacked me."

"A city, you say? Is it one that's close by?"

"Did you come from another town, miss?" the girl asked Link.

"More like another world... but I got lost; could you lead me to the city?"

"Yes."

Link put the bear in her storage bag and then began to move to go, but the girl stayed in place.

"Are you not going to butcher the bear like this, miss?" she asked.

"I can't butcher anything; I don't like the smell of blood."

"I'd do it, miss. If you don't mind."

"You know how to do that?" the girl nodded at Link's words.

"Already, you can have it then."

"I can't do that!"

"It's alright. You can have the bear if you answer my questions and show me around town. You need money, right?"

"hmmm... okay."

once Link pulled the bear out, the girl pulled out a small knife and skillfully butchered the bear.

"You're good," I told her.

"Uh-huh. I do this for work sometimes."

She cleanly disassembled the bear into pelt, meat, and mana gems, and then Link put everything in her storage bag.

"Is the town close by?"

"Uh-huh, it is. That's why I came here to pick herbs."

"Did you find any?"

"Yeah, but then the bear attacked on my way home."

"Well, how about we head out, then..."

Link meant to call the girl's name but realized she hadn't asked for it yet. She seemed to infer that, though.

"I'm Kikyo."

"I'm LInk. So, how about we get going, Kikyo?"

"Okay... so what would you like to know first?"

While Link and Kikyo walked around, Link asked all kinds of questions. First, Link was on the spiral-shaped continent Cephiro, to be more precise, the Crow Kingdom. The Crow Kingdom is a medium-sized nation in the southeast of the continent. It is ruled under a monarchy, with a queen instead of a king.

Right now, she was in the Woods of Caldera, Caldera being the name of the city. The city was established at the edge of a caldera that led into a vertical hole with a unique ecosystem, where hazardous habitats defy common sense and otherworldly creatures adapt to the unique environment called The Abyss.

"Alright, we're out now."

Kikyo said that as she led Link out of the forest, Link saw how the trees ended abruptly, widening her view dramatically.

"Ah..?!"

The moment Link stepped out and was hit by sunlight, her body hunched over. She felt dizzy and about to fall, so she quickly squatted down to maintain her balance. She can feel the skin on her face burning and peeling off.

Link could feel it wouldn't be long before blisters would form, so she took her bag and put her head in the bag.

"Hey, are you alright?"

yeah, I just don't do well with the sun."
