Mya's pov
I just finished math class, I went to my locker to put some of my things in it.I felt a tap on my shoulder, and I was guessing it was Paige.
But as I turned around, I saw Jana from the team instead. My smile faltered a little, but I still manage to smile at her.
"Oh hi! Jana right?" I questioned, since I wasn't really familiar with her yet and I don't hang around with her often. But I oftened conversed with her during checkups or therapy.
"Hey, yeah, Mya." She seemed a little tense, so I placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, assuring her there was nothing to worry about.
"A-Are you free now?" She uttered out.
I would be meeting Paige in an hour so I did have spare time to use. I nodded my head, accompanied with a "Sure, let's go to the cafeteria. I could use some food and drink right now."
We made our way to the cafeteria, and we placed our bags on an empty table somewhere near the back.
We got our food 5 minutes later, going back to the table to eat. She sat opposite of me and I could tell she was still tense, and nervous.
"Soooo, what did you want to tell me?" I asked her calmly to avoid making her more tense.
"I want to tell you something, but I think Paige would either not want to talk to me ever again, or she would just not treat me as a teammate anymore during practice." She muttered out.
I softened a little, thinking of anything that can make her think like that. "Paige wouldn't. Why would you think so?"
"I-I like y-you." She confessed, and my utensils dropped from my hands.
I didn't know how to approach this further, but I didn't want to put anymore pressure on her since she's been feeling way to tense since earlier. Plus, it's not like she's done anything wrong either.
"Oh. I see." I spoke, sending a soft smile her way. "I appreciate you for telling me, but you know I'm with Paige so I can't really do much about this, but I really do appreciate you for telling me."
She formed a slight smile, but I could see disappointment and a hint of hurt behind the smile, as well in her eyes.
I felt bad, but I wanted to lighten the mood and not make her feel uneasy, so I suggested an idea.
"We could be friends though! I mean- we are friends, but what I'm implying is that we can hangout, have meals together and even go shopping together. But I'm really sorry that I can't do anything about how you feel for me. And I won't tell Paige about this, unless she manages to convince me somehow, BUT, I will do as much as I can to keep this in between us. So please, don't think too much about this, kay?" I look at her kindly.
"Y-Yeah." She stuttered, sending another smile.
For the rest of lunch, both of us just sat there akwardly, eating our food and not saying much.
Jana's pov
Fuck. Why does she want Paige? Why not me? I can treat her like Paige does, if not, even better! Why does everyone always fall for Paige? Just for looks? Or her body? I'm so tired of trying.I needed to do something.
