"This had better be important to take me out of my training session, Mother. You know I don't get called down unless it's life or death."
The Young Prince of the Saiyans didn't know what was worse. The fact that his father interrupted his training or the fact that he didn't make his way over himself to see him. Vegeta wasn't that foolish though. He knew exactly what his father would tell him if he scolded him again. It was the same pattern all the time ever since he was a boy. His father had odd ways of showing him love. Love, a concept that Vegeta didn't understand all too well. The closest thing he felt to love was whatever his mother showered him in.
The Queen of the Saiyans gently rubbed her son on the back, still gazing out to the hallway and making eye contact with nobody who passed by. Vegeta smirked at all the soldiers and servants who flinched at the mere sight of his family.
"Your father didn't tell me much information." His mother said. "Then again, he loves keeping stuff to himself so I'm not that surprised." She smiled and looked down at Vegeta. "Sounds like a certain someone don't you think?"
Vegeta rolled his eyes and scoffed. "I don't need your humor, Mother. It's not that good."
"Nonsense. I think I have a great sense of humor! Your brother will agree."
"My brother is an idiot."
"Vegeta! That's not nice. Your brother doesn't deserve your shit talking."
"And we don't deserve to be ruled by a tyrant and yet here we are. We all can't have nice things."
Vegeta clenched his hand into a fist at the mere thought of Him. The bastard that practically enslaved his people and bound them to his empire. While conquering planets wasn't all too hard, and even fun at times, it just didn't feel the same when being under the watchful eyes of Freeza. If he was grateful for one thing, however, it was the sheer fact that on Planet Vegeta the Saiyans were free to do whatever they wanted. It was only Saiyans a part of the military and raiding parties that mainly had to deal with Freeza.
Including himself.
"Am I being called away by Freeza again?" Vegeta asked as they passed around a corner, almost to the throne room.
"Surprisingly no. This isn't related to Freeza."
"Then what is it?! Why are you of all people being secretive with me? You said you'd tell me everything. Is it something that bad that you can't even be honest with me?!" Vegeta pressed."Listen I-" His mother paused and sighed deeply. "Your father has made a decision recently and he's finally ready to tell you. And no before you say anything it's not an arranged marriage or anything like that. Just... don't make a big scene okay?"
Vegeta has never been so confused in his life. He hated being in the dark about things. It was the one boundary he expressed to his family since he was a small boy, and yet it was constantly broken time and time again during the worst possible moments. He almost felt heartbroken each time it happened, but as the years grew by and he turned into a young adult he learned to surpass those weak emotions. Every Saiyan knew that weakness was not allowed to be shown no matter what. The fate of it being shown was worse than a death sentence.
Public humiliation and shunning. As Vegeta and his mother opened the doors of the throne room, he was faced with a line of soldiers on each side of the long carpet that led up to his father's throne. King Vegeta sat with his head on his hand looking bored as per usual.
"It's not nice to keep a King waiting, Pimen." The King said, lifting his head and standing up.
"May I remind you that we are of equal power, Vegeta." Queen Pimen said, completely unfazed. "Where is he?""Right here." King Vegeta said as he looked at his son. "Come here, son."
"What is the meaning of this, father?" Vegeta demanded, taking a step forward. "What can be so important that it couldn't wait till I finished training?!"
King Vegeta stepped down from the throne until he was standing right in front of his son. The two Vegetas stared at each other in silence for a few seconds before the King looked off to the side. He motioned his hand at one of the guards, and Vegeta watched as the scared soldier bowed and quickly ran behind one of the large pillars. Vegeta crossed his arms, expecting a random Saiyan woman to pop out all nervous like before when his father brought him out of training.
Instead, it was way worse.
He was a tall Saiyan male with spiky hair that went in all directions. He wore sleeveless, padless black and yellow Saiyan armor with blanket pants and white gloves. He had no scouter but he did have a large smile as he looked towards him with those big black eyes. It made Vegeta cringe. He pressed on his scouter and was appalled by the lower number that beeped.
"Wh- What is the meaning of this?!" Vegeta yelled. "What is a low class scum doing in this castle?! I demand an explanation right now!"
"Calm down, Geta..." Pimen said gently, holding onto her son's shoulder.
King Vegeta cleared his throat and stood next to the low class Saiyan. "Vegeta, this is Kakarot, son of Bardock. I'm sure you have heard of him during some of your missions off world."
"Yes, and?" Vegeta asked through gritted teeth.
"After some close examination and background checks, I have decided to appoint Kakarot as your personal guard. He will serve you primarily and will follow you wherever you go out into public. He has vowed to protect you under the oath of Vegeta-Sai. Isn't that right, Kakarot?"
Vegeta clenched his teeth together as Kakarot went down on one knee in front of him, looking down at the floor.
He can't even make eye contact with his Prince. Such a coward.
"It's of great honor to serve under you, Prince Vegeta. I vow that I will protect you from any danger that comes your way." Kakarot said, finally looking up and into Vegeta's eyes. "Including Freeza if it comes to that."
Vegeta scoffed. "You can sound professional all you want. We all know that isn't true. Your power level is the lowest number I have ever scanned. You're not even worthy of being called a Saiyan. Very much one that works under me."
"Vegeta!" Pimen scolded.
"I wouldn't underestimate him if I were you." King Vegeta said. "Shockingly, although inconveniently, he has a greater power inside of him that can even rival yours."
Vegeta let out a laugh. "Really? Him? And here I thought Mother had a shit sense of humor."
King Vegeta looked down at the low class Saiyan. "Is there any way for you to show your power to my son without needing to beat anyone up?"
Kakarot stood back up and sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck. "Uh... no. It doesn't really come out often. I don't know when it decides to spike if I'm being truly honest-"
"You must be a fool if you think I'm gonna accept this clown." Vegeta said.
"And you'll be an even bigger fool for going against your father. Kakarot is here to stay and that's final. I already have a room prepared for him. He will be stationed near your quarters as of tonight.""WHAT?!"
"You all are dismissed. If you excuse me, I have a meeting to attend to."
"Wait, you can't just LEAVE! I still need answers from you, dumbass! HEY!"
Despite the pleading, King Vegeta shrugged his son aside and turned his back to him, exiting the room with some guards following him from behind. Vegeta growled and clenched his fist tight as he stomped out of the room out the other door. Kakarot followed him close behind, just like he was supposed to. Vegeta could end him right then and there and be done with it. Sure his father would be pissed and his mother would be heavily disappointed. And maybe his brother would be ashamed as well. But he didn't care that much.
He was going to face public humiliation all because of his father's poor decisions.
What the fuck did I do to deserve this?! Vegeta scoffed and just walked around the empty hallways of the castle, not knowing what to do with himself anymore. He didn't feel like doing anything anymore.
He just wanted this scum to die.
