The next morning, the sun peeked through the cabin windows, casting a warm glow across the room. I stretched and blinked awake, the memories of last night flooding back to me—the laughter, the confessions, the spark that ignited between Martinus and me. A smile crept onto my face as I remembered the warmth of the fire and the way he had looked at me when he confessed that he felt the same way.
I threw off the covers and made my way to the kitchen, where the aroma of coffee wafted through the air. Emma was already there, pouring herself a steaming cup. She looked up as I entered, her eyes twinkling with excitement.
“Good morning! How did you sleep?” she asked, leaning against the counter with a knowing smile.
“Really well, actually,” I replied, trying to keep my voice casual despite the giddiness bubbling inside me. “What about you?”
“Pretty good! Last night was epic. I can’t believe the things you and Martinus shared!” she exclaimed, waggling her eyebrows suggestively.
I felt my cheeks heat up. “It was just a game,” I said, though I knew it was much more than that.
Emma grinned. “Oh, come on! You can’t tell me there isn’t something more there. The way you two were looking at each other? It was like a movie.”
“Okay, okay, maybe there’s something,” I admitted, pouring myself a cup of coffee. “But I don’t want to rush anything. I want to take my time and see where it goes.”
“Smart move,” she said, nodding in approval. “Just be open with him. Communication is key.”
As we chatted, Nora and Marcus wandered into the kitchen, both looking slightly disheveled from sleep. “Morning, lovebirds!” Marcus teased, his voice thick with sleep.
“Morning!” I replied, trying to hide my embarrassment.
“Do we have any plans for today?” Nora asked, stifling a yawn.
“I was thinking we could hike a bit and explore more of the area,” Emma suggested, her enthusiasm contagious. “And maybe have a picnic by the lake?”
“That sounds perfect!” I said, already imagining the beautiful scenery and the chance to spend more time with everyone. “What do you think, Martinus?”
I hadn’t noticed him come in, but there he stood by the entrance, a sleepy but charming smile on his face. “I’m in. Hiking sounds like a good way to start the day,” he said, moving closer to me.
“Great! Let’s get ready, then,” Emma said, clapping her hands together. “I’ll make us some breakfast!”

After breakfast, we all gathered our things—water bottles, snacks, and sunscreen—ready for our hiking adventure. As we set off, I walked beside Martinus, the morning sun shining brightly overhead.
“Feeling adventurous today?” he asked, glancing at me with a playful smile.
“Absolutely! Just as long as you don’t try to race me up the mountain,” I replied, teasing him back.
He chuckled, the sound deep and warm. “No promises. But I’ll go easy on you.”
We began our hike, the trail winding through a forest of tall trees and vibrant wildflowers. The air was crisp and refreshing, filled with the sounds of chirping birds and rustling leaves.
As we climbed higher, I couldn’t help but steal glances at Martinus. There was a sense of ease between us now, a comfortable tension that made my heart race. We chatted about everything and nothing, sharing stories of our childhoods and dreams for the future.
