BIGGER IN TEXAS

Lovette looked out the window of the Uber, gazing out at the sprawling Texas landscape. The familiar warmth of the sun felt comforting after a few days spent in the UK.

Instead of heading back to Florida, she had made a spontaneous decision to visit Zilla. She missed him more than she could put into words, and the yearning in her heart propelled her forward.

When the car finally stopped, Lovette stepped out in front of Zilla's mother's house. The modest brick exterior brought a wave of nostalgia, a symbol of the familial warmth that had embraced her over the past two years.

She approached the front door, her heart racing with excitement. As it swung open, Leata's familiar face appeared.

"My daughter is here," Leata exclaimed, her voice bright and welcoming.

Lovette smiled, her heart swelling as she stepped inside and wrapped her arms around Leata in a warm hug.

"Hey, mama," Lovette greeted, savoring the moment.

Leata had become a second mother to her, a guiding figure through the ups and downs of her relationship with Isayah.

"Hey, baby, how are you? Does Isayah know you're in town?" Leata asked, stepping back to take a good look at Lovette.

"No, I'm surprising him later. I'm good, I just wanted to stop by and check in on you," Lovette replied as they moved into the cozy kitchen, the air thick with the delicious aroma of Leata's cooking. Lovette's mouth watered at the thought of a meal cooked by Leata.

"Oh, and I stopped by just in time," she added, grinning. Leata chuckled, her laughter filling the space.

"Come let me feed you," Leata said, moving toward the stove with the grace of someone who found joy in nurturing those she loved.

She grabbed a plate and began serving up honey teriyaki glaze chicken with coconut rice and steamed carrots, the colors and scents creating a feast for the senses.

"So how was the WWE UK tour?" Leata asked as she placed the plate in front of Lovette.

"It was fun, the usual. I'm glad to be back home," Lovette replied, a hint of wistfulness in her voice.

"Oh, Texas is home now?" Leata teased, arching an eyebrow.

Lovette smiled, shaking her head. "You know what I mean. I love Texas but I'm a Florida girl forever," she said, a touch of pride in her voice.

Leata's expression softened, her maternal instincts kicking in. "You know I don't like getting into my sons' business when it comes to their relationships, but you and Isayah have been together for two years now. How long are you two going to keep this long-distance going for?" she asked, genuine concern lacing her words.

Lovette sighed, her heart heavy. "I don't know. You know Isayah changes apartments like every other month. If we move in together, I need stability. Plus, I was raised to never move in with a man unless there's a ring involved," she answered, her honesty flowing freely.

She loved Isayah, but his impulsiveness sometimes left her feeling unsettled.

"You know how Isayah is. I told him to stop with all that moving around, but he just doesn't listen," Leata said, nodding in understanding.

Lovette agreed, a slight smile creeping onto her face. "You know he's hard-headed," she chuckled.

"But that's your man," Leata pointed out, her tone teasing but supportive.

Lovette giggled, warmth flooding her chest. "And I'm gonna stick right beside him," she declared, determination ringing in her words.

Later that day, as the sun dipped low in the sky, Lovette finally made her way to Zilla's apartment. She unlocked the door and stepped inside, the silence wrapping around her like a blanket.
