Ruby's POV:

It started like any other day: I dragged myself through morning classes, dodging Ethan's usual snark about me being "fashionably late" and trying hard not to completely zone out during a lecture about ancient history.

By lunchtime, everything changed.

I was sitting with Danielle and Myra in our favourite corner, right next to the cafeteria windows, when my phone started buzzing inside my pocket. I glanced down at the screen; my heart skipped a beat. The email had finally arrived.

"Guys," I said, forcing back the excitement by way of a quiver in my voice, "they just posted the details on the competition."

Danielle and Myra sat up immediately, wide eyes staring at me as if waiting for me to continue. Myra bounced in her seat.

"Read it out!" she ordered, leaning in close.

I was playing with my phone when I opened the email. "Okay, here we go. The show is called The-K Show, and it's a two-month-long competition. We're performing once every Saturday, and there's a different challenge each week."

Danielle's eyes just opened so wide. "Two months? That's. intense."

"Yup. And check this out." I cleared my throat and started reading off the list of performances. "First round: Entrance performance. We've got that one covered. Second round: Freestyle performance"

Myra grinned. "Freestyle? Seok-hoon's going to be all over that."

I nodded. "Of course. Then for the third round, it's solos. Each member of the team has to do a solo performance. Then, things get interesting, or so I'm told- round four is a 'Performance with a Special Factor.' No idea what that means, but it could be anything."

Danielle furrowed her brow. "Special factor? Like, maybe a prop or something?"

"Perhaps," I replied, scrolling down further. "Round five is a Performance Remake, wherein we have to reproduce a great performance done by some other group. Round six is a themed performance, and the seventh round is the Grand Finale.

The table fell silent for one moment as we all inhaled the intensity of that competition. This was not a weekend casual event. The-K Show was going to take the better part of our lives for the next two months.

"Seven rounds," Danielle said eventually, shaking her head. "That's quite a lot. I sure hope we are ready for this."

"'We'll make it work,' I said. Resolve began to well within my chest. 'We have a killer entrance already on the books, and we've been practising nonstop. We could handle that. And once we can handle this.'

Already, Ethan was dumping his tray on the table and sliding across from me. "What's up?" he asked, eyeing our sombre faces over his sandwich. "You guys look way too solemn for lunchtime."

"The-K Show details just dropped," I said, holding my phone up for him to see.

"Oh, no big deal," Ethan said dripping with sarcasm. "Just two months of constant competition in front of judges, cameras, and the entire city."

"Right," I said with a grin. "No pressure, right?"

She pulled the phone away from me and read it herself. "Wait, look at this," she said, her finger pointing to the message's bottom. "They are announcing who is judging next week but have mentioned one of them being some big K-pop choreographer."

Danielle dropped her jaw. "A K-pop choreographer? That's huge. If we can impress them.".

I nodded, already turning my thoughts over. "Yeah, but it's not like we are doing this for the judges. We need to do something new and exciting for each round if we want to be noticed. This isn't just your average competition at a regular high school-this is our big shot to become known."

I met his eyes. "We have to. This is bigger than anything we've ever done before. We can't just show up and hope for the best-we need to dominate."

Myra handed my phone back, smiling. "So, what's the plan, boss?"

I laughed. "The plan is to continue improving our entrance performance and begin thinking forward. We have seven rounds coming, and each will try and push us further than the last. But I believe we can do that."

Danielle nodded, her eyes flashing with excitement. "We've got a good team here. And if we combine all our styles, they'll be challenged whatever they throw at us."

The lunch bell rang, and we all grabbed our stuff to get out of the cafeteria. As we walked through the hall, the weight of competition set in. It was two months, seven rounds, and it was going to be competition time against some of the finest dancers in the city. We could not afford even a second to slack off.

When I walked to class alongside them, I gazed at my friends in the eyes with such a sense of pride; they were my team and a crew - Fusion. And everything came our way, at one time or another, as far as I was concerned.

"Okay, guys," I said, pushing a determined look into each one of their faces, "Let's win this."
