I enter the school with Vivienne, who's been weirdly clingy with me. I go to my locker and put my bag in it, taking the books for the first period out. As I walk to Science Class, I hear some girls laughing irritatingly loud. There was a blonde, a ginger and a brunette. Well not so dark brunette. I get in and take a place near the window and the radiator. Finally some heat! I see that the ginger walks in too. She wears a light blue button up and a black mini skirt. I would've thought she was a teacher if it was longer.
Other people stary sitting. Everyone here is terribly recognizable for some reason. Anyway, the lesson starts. We are talking about plants and how their cells are structured. Something I never understood: why are they hexagonal? Just as I'm highlighting some random information the ginger taps my back.
"What is it?"
"You're the new girl, right?"
"Yes."
"They talked to us non-stop about you. It was like you were as important as Regina."
"Who the hell is Regina now?"
"It's the blondie I was talking to before. She's basically the one in charge when it comes to school roles-"
"Singer and Williams, stop talking." Scolds the teacher. We both apologize.
"I'll talk to you later."
Period ends. She immediately calls for my attention as she grabbed her stuff from the desk.
"I was saying, Regina is basically at the top of the student hierarchy. And guess who's there with her?"
"You, I guess?"
"Exactly. With that other girl from before. We're basically the most feared people in school."
"Why's that?"
"Well, we- I mean, Regina is usually the one intimidating people who go against us."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah. I can make you meet her at lunch if you want to."
"God, no thanks!"
The bell rang and I rushed to my locker as the hallways was flooded with people. What I did after doesn't matter. Let's get to the serious stuff. Regina is this tall blonde with her hair in a ponytail, her hair is super luscious and combed. It looks hairsprayed. From what I'm told she almost always wears pink. Especially the pink polo she has on right now, and her skirt?
Wore only on important occasions.
Oh dear. Am I gonna be her next victim? The table where she's sat with her friends is a few tables before where Vivienne is, and I honestly don't want to leave her alone. I take the risk and sprint behind her.
She snaps her fingers, loud. I freeze. Everyone turns around to stare at me. She gets up, her heels clack on the checkered tiles. I feel so weird. It looks like she's gonna burst into a musical number.
"Who are you?" She asks sternly.
"Uh- I'm- I'm Elizabeth. Williams."
She looks me up and down, judgemental.
"Hm. You're the new girl."
"Yes."
Silence.
"Well, know just one thing. No one messes with Regina Meyers here."
"Oh, okay?"
She looks amused.
"You have some real audacity to not scram like anyone else. Impressing. Wanna sit with us?"
I look confused. First she threatens me, now she wants to make friends with me? Hope she's bipolar, because there's no way to explain this.
"Uh, alright." I put my tray on their table. The ginger is at her phone and the brunette from before is fixing her make-up. Regina sits down also.
"These are my confidants, Lucy and Veronica."
"Hi."
"Hey."
"Did I tell you I already talked to her in Science, Gi-Gi?" Said Lucy.
Regina looked at me. "Really? That's great."
I look around. "Yeah, she told me quite a lot about you. So, why always the pink?"
"Why?" She laughed. "It's merely out of preference. I love it. I always felt represented by it. It symbolizes femininity and fashion, and I am both of those."
Some self-confidence wouldn't hurt...
"So, is it like a group thing, or?"
"What?"
"The pink."
"Oh, no, I only wear it. I'm probably the only girl who consistently wears it in the whole school. There's also a necromancer who always wears black." She brushed her hair from her face. Her light eyes sure were magnetic. She hasn't touched a bit of food.
"Are you not hungry?"
"I'm on a diet."
"Being on a diet doesn't mean skipping meals."
"The doctor told me that I should not eat at least one time a day."
"Wait, why are you on a diet anyway? You're pretty damn skinny to me!"
"I'm growing a belly. Even if it's not immediately visible, it's there."So, to recap, Regina is a bit bipolar and is obsessed with her body. Can't say I didn't expect it from a popular girl.
