The air was thick with anticipation as Arabelle and Darius made their way through the dimly lit corridors of the palace. Lady Elyse's chilling words echoed in Arabelle's mind, like a curse that clung to the very stones of the castle. The princess felt a shiver crawl down her spine as they approached the palace's grand hall. If Elyse was involved in a plot this vast, it meant the kingdom was in greater peril than even she had feared.

"How far do you think her influence reaches?" Arabelle asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Darius walked beside her, his hand resting lightly on the hilt of his sword. His face was set in grim determination, his usually warm green eyes now cold and calculating. "If what she says is true, Elyse is merely a puppet for something much more dangerous. Whoever, or whatever, is behind her likely has deep ties within the court. But that's not all. We're dealing with something far older than political scheming."

"Aether magic," Arabelle said, her words heavy. "But we don't even know what that entails. If the legends are true, it's powerful, but it's also forbidden for a reason."

"And now, it's not just about the kingdom. The Veil separating our world from the Aether Realm is weakening," Darius added. "If that falls, it's more than just Valoria that will be in danger."

As they reached the grand hall, Arabelle's eyes caught sight of another familiar figure waiting in the shadows—Seraphine, the royal mage. Seraphine was unlike any other mage Arabelle had ever known. She was reclusive, intense, and her knowledge of magic was unmatched. If there was anyone who could shed light on the Aether magic and the ancient powers Elyse had alluded to, it was Seraphine.

The mage was tall, her fiery red hair cascading over her black robes like molten lava. Her striking silver eyes reflected the flickering torchlight as she stepped forward to greet them. "Princess Arabelle. Prince Darius," she said, her voice soft but commanding. "You summoned me."

"We need your counsel," Arabelle said, glancing over her shoulder to make sure they were alone. "This is a matter that concerns the Aether Realm."

Seraphine's eyes narrowed slightly. "The Aether Realm? That is a dangerous subject, one we've not spoken of in centuries. What has happened?"

Arabelle quickly recounted what they had learned—Thallan's murder, the Aether symbol, the weakening Veil, and Lady Elyse's cryptic involvement. Seraphine listened in silence, her expression growing darker with every detail. When Arabelle finished, Seraphine spoke in a low, controlled voice.
