"Damn! What did you just say? Isa shrieked in excitement.

"Come on, spill the beans!" Seth urged impatiently as he plopped down next to Dustin, who was busy devouring his usual chocolate bar.

"I told him I wasn't ready for that," Renee replied.

Their frowns didn't hide their disappointment.

"Why would you say that?" Seth pressed.

"I just don't see him that way. I prefer us to stay friends," Renee said, carefully cleaning a paintbrush.

"Friends, really? You two literally shared a bed and cuddled like lovers," Isa scoffed. A flush crept up Renee's neck, and he regretted sharing that detail, wishing he had kept it to himself while they forced him to talk.

"That doesn't mean shit, Isa. Friends can share a bed and cuddle too," Dustin interjected.

Isa shot him a glare. "I wasn't talking to you, so zip it."

"Dustin is right," Renee added.

"Well do you cuddle with us?" Isa challenged.

He stumbled over his words. "N-no."

"Exactly!" She grinned, as if she had just proved a point.

"I was drunk! I didn't know what I was doing, okay? Let's just forget it," he pleaded.

"I don't believe it."

He sighed internally. "Believe what you want, then."

Isa huffed and leaned back in her chair. Dustin rolled his eyes at her. "You know, you never told us what went down with your 'lover' Tristan," he pointed out.

"Yeah," Seth chimed in, nodding in agreement.

Renee froze, his heart racing at the mention of that name. He swallowed hard.

"What about him?" he asked cautiously.

"Was he really your stepbrother or just a fling? I'm confused," Dustin pressed.

"I told you, he's my stepbrother, nothing more. Why are you so interested in him anyway? You've only met him once," Renee snapped, feeling his mood sour. He was trying hard not to think about Tristan, and the last thing he wanted was to go down the memory lane.

Dustin shrugged. "Just curious. So, what about Pierre then?"

He's merely a friend. Anger bubbled within him, and he chose to disregard them entirely. The conversation was the last thing on his mind; he felt utterly exhausted and longed to return home for a much-needed nap. Hopefully forget about his distress.

After a long day at work, he finally stepped through his front door when Pierre called. They exchange a few words before Pierre suggested meeting up with a friend the next day. He paused, unsure, but Pierre quickly picked up on his hesitation and assured him it was perfectly fine if he declined.

Renee, feeling a mix of nerves and determination, found himself saying yes. Despite his anxiety, he agreed to the plan.

Later that evening, after binge-watching Twilight for the ninth time, he dozed off on the couch, wrapped in a cozy, furry blanket.

The next morning rushed in, and he trudged through his usual routine with a frown. Mornings were never his thing, and getting out of bed felt like the hardest task to ever exist.

He prepared a light breakfast and glanced at his phone, squinting at the barrage of notifications. Seth had thought it was a nice idea to have a group chat decided to create one for the four of them from the studio, but it often felt like a conversation between just three, with Renee mostly observing.
