As the last students left the clearing, Ophelia turned to her friends, her heart racing with concern for Draco. "I want to check on Draco," she declared, determination in her voice.
Harry frowned, crossing his arms. "Are you sure that's a good idea? Malfoy's not exactly... nice, you know?" He looked at Ophelia with concern, not wanting to upset her by criticizing Draco too harshly. After all, Draco had been her friend... sort of.
Ron chimed in, his tone skeptical. "Yeah, I don't like it. He'll probably just be a git, Ophelia. You shouldn't bother with him. He's likely already causing trouble for Hagrid..." Harry's eyes widened in concern at this possibility.
Ophelia felt her enthusiasm waver but pushed back against their doubts. "That's not the Draco I know. He might be a tad... stubborn, but I just want to check up on him and make sure he's okay. Maybe I can even talk him down from telling his..." Ophelia was interrupted by Ron's bad imitation of Draco saying, "Father." Harry and Ron laughed together. Ophelia couldn't help but giggle a bit at it, but she quickly adopted a look of determination. "Yeah, but I'm still going to check on him. Hope it's okay with you guys? You don't seem to be on the best terms with him." She looked down, a concerned expression on her face.
Hermione stepped in, her expression firm but understanding. "It's okay, Ophelia. You go check on him. It's unfair to spring our relationship with Malfoy on you on your first day! You have every right to see your friend!" She shot a warning glance at Ron and Harry, indicating for them to stop their protests.
Ophelia smiled, hugged Hermione, and headed off to the castle with a wave.
Harry shifted uneasily, glancing between Ophelia heading to the castle and Hermione. "But Hermione, you know how Malfoy is. Do you really think it's a good idea for her to befriend him?"
"I know he can be a prat," Hermione replied, her voice steady. "But Ophelia has known him since they were kids, apparently, so she has every right to check on him. If he's a git, I'll just hex him!" She laughed.
Ron and Harry looked at her, confused. "She's known him since she was a kid?" Ron asked.
"Yes, she told me earlier. Although they haven't really spoken in the last five years while she was in France," Hermione added.
"I don't like this," Harry said quietly. "What if he tries to manipulate her?"
Ron nodded, crossing his arms tightly. "Yeah, Malfoy's a right git. Why would she want to go be friend with him?"
Hermione sighed, her tone softening. "Because she grew up with him and obviously cares about him, even if he can be insufferable. And honestly, she should be allowed to make her own choices about her friends."
Harry remained unconvinced, his expression serious. "I just don't want her to get hurt. Malfoy's not trustworthy."
As Ophelia made her way down the corridors of Hogwarts, she felt a mix of nerves and excitement. The castle's winding halls were familiar yet strange, each turn bringing back memories of her childhood and the friend she had lost touch with.
With a determined look, Ophelia finally reached the hospital wing. After a few wrong turns and a couple of encounters with mischievous ghosts, she found herself standing outside the room, heart pounding. She took a deep breath, preparing herself for the reunion.
Inside, the room was eerily quiet, every bed empty except for one, where the curtains were drawn tightly. Ophelia approached the bed, her heart racing. She cleared her throat softly, wanting to announce her presence without startling him. "Um, hello?" she called, her voice barely above a whisper.
