Valediction

Amy loved Whisper and Whisper loved her back. Whisper also loved Tangle. However, Tangle is dead.

When Tangle died Whisper felt nothing.

She did feel everything for Tangle instead. Nothing for the rest of the world. Nothing for herself. She wanted to kill Tangle's killer. She wanted to mourn the loss. She wanted to cry yet she didn't.

Amy was there for her, to pick up the pieces.

To make her feel whole again.

Amy tried to do that. Yet she felt short.

Whisper was always going to miss a piece. No matter how much Amy gived.

Amy thought she could live with that.

Whisper did too.

They were both wrong.

"If you need anything. And I do mean anything. Call me." Amy makes sure to emphasize the importance of the "anything" in her sentence. She knows Whisper is broken. At least she knows a bit that she is.

Whisper smiles a bit.

*Yes, I know.* Whisper says. Amy smile a bit before kissing Whisper on the head.

"I'll be back at five. See you then." Amy says before leaving.

Tangle's been dead for a year.

Exactly a year. Amy would've stayed with Whisper if she knew. Not letting her out of her sight. At least not more than a moment.

Whisper needs to be alone.

Whisper needs some space to breathe.

Whisper needs time.

In reality she'll need a lifetime to get over Tangle. Like how she'll never be over the original diamond cutters.

Whisper sighs. Today is cold. Like the day it all happened. It happened in a flash. One moment she and Tangle were walking down a cave. Tangle was cracking jokes and Whisper was laughing. Then a sudden slash. Then she saw...

Whisper cuts off her thoughts.

Whisper needs to stop thinking about this. She knows she has too. She knows she has to stop. For her sake. For Amy's sake too.

Oh, does she feel bad for Amy.

Their relationship started right before Tangle's murder. Tangle actually helped Whisper a lot to confess her feelings. Tangle herself had a crush on Blaze but she helped Whisper first.

She never got to tell her.

Amy herself was with Whisper all the way. She was her rock. Almost immediately Amy basically moved in with her. A year later and here she is. Still with Whisper. However, Whisper feels like she's using her. Amy doesn't deserve to be treated like a second fiddle. She deserves to be treated like the queen she is.

Whisper knows that.

She can't break up with her. Not only does Whisper simply refuse that motion but Amy wouldn't let her anyway. Probably because Amy knows it's a depressive spiral.

She's told Amy several times.

*You deserve someone better.*

Amy shakes her head and says no in a thousand ways.

Whisper is eternally grateful.

However, Amy needs better, so much better. While Whisper needs Tangle. She needs her. She can't live without her.
