The King and The King

Chapter 2

Taehyung and Jimin reach the dining hall. They notice Jin and Hobi talking and Jungkook talking with Namjoon and Yoongi. Jungkook notices Tae and Jimin. " Here they are. What took you guys this long? Everyone has been waiting," scolds Jungkook. Jimin lowers his head. He can't meet his father's eyes, feeling guilty that both his fathers knew all his lies all this time. They all quickly move to settle.

Namjoon noticing Jimin's silence, sits near him and asks " Is everything okay?" Jimin bites his bottom lips and just nods. With Jin on the head seat, Jungkook on Jin's right, and Hobi on his left. Yoongi sits next to Jungkook. Tae sits next to Yoongi.

Yoongi has always been more attached to Jungkook. Hobi is an amazing father but Yoongi missed his mother and soon Jungkook became someone he could depend on when he needed some guidance about being Omega. Yoongi usually doesn't express his emotions immediately but Jungkook understood him very well, he has always been supportive.

While having dinner, Jin was placing some of his meat pieces on Jungkook's plate as usual, but watching this, Tae felt that his parents would've been so in love in their youth that they are still in love and now they even found out about him and his brother sooner than he expected.

And now, suddenly, he wanted to know how his father met and fell in love. There is no way his dad met his appa, a farmer's son, in the palace, so he wonders how they met.

"Uncle Hobi, how was Dad in his youth?" asks Tae. " Hmm, Ruthless," says Hobi. Jungkook and Jin start laughing. Tae smiles, " Uncle, I'm being serious. How was he?" " Tae, I'm very much serious, when I tell you he was ruthless. If you don't believe me, you can ask any senior members of the royal court or even your teachers. They all know how ruthless he was"

Tae needs clarification. " But Dad is so calm and composed." "That's after meeting your appa," says Hobi. Jungkook smiles. " Just like any other prince, your dad was trained well too. But he possessed extraordinary strength, he had won every battle he was sent on, and soon everyone started noticing it. The prince's duty was not just being able to protect his empire but also administering the needs of common people, treasury, and many more, which hyung was least interested in. It was like he was obsessed with fighting. He was even short-tempered. People would be so scared to approach hyung."

"The late King soon noticed this and hyung was called," says Hobi recalling how they both were sent to some unknown village.

Flashback

" Jin, I heard you are doing very well in all the battles you lead. I'm proud of you my son" " Thank you, Your Majesty" " You know being King is not just winning battles right? You'll have to tone down your temper Jin. Your anger is not going to help you in administration. Your patience will help you listen to people's problems and make you think of a solution. You can't just let others handle the administration. A King must protect his people from internal and external conflict and make sure they live peacefully." says the King.

"You can choose a place, you'll be spending a few months there. You'll never reveal your identity, you'll live as a commoner so that you can understand the problems of the people living there. Everything you do there will be reported to me directly by the people I assign to check on you there."

"You need not go there alone, you'll be accompanied by your best friend Jung Hoseok. It seems that Hoseok's father, the armed forces chief feels that even Hoseok needs to learn a few other things as he'll be with the future King. You both will need to get a job there and start living there. When the officers assigned feel that you're finally fit to be back then you'll be called back." said The King.

" Yes, Your Majesty," said Jin and Hobi. And they both leave the royal court.

"I have no idea why my father got me involved in this. Do you have any place in mind hyung? We'll be spending who knows how long there so please choose a nice place hyung" says Hobi. " I truly hate this idea of going to an unknown place. What could I learn anything about ruling this empire while living in an unknown place?" sighs Jin. " At least I'll have you with me" smiles Jin.

Flashback ends

" That's how we both were asked to stay at some unknown place and that's where we met-" "Appa" Tae interrupts Hobi. " Yeah" replies Jin while smiling at Jungkook.

" What do you mean? Uncle Jungkook, you were not a prince?" Yoongi asks Jungkook. " Yes, Yoongi-ah. I was not a prince by birth. I'm from the same village where your father and Jin hyung were sent." replies Jungkook.

" Wow, I never knew this. Says Namjoon.

" Me too." Jimin says to Namjooon and then looks at Jin, "Appa would've been even more beautiful than he is now so did you fall in love with Appa as soon as you saw him, Dad? Isn't that why you always call him pretty baby? So was it love at first sight?" Jimin asks Jin. Everyone looks at Jin. Jin continues to eat without replying.

"Uncle Hobi, I guess it wasn't love at first sight. So how did they fall in love?" asks Tae. Hobi looks at Jin and Jungkook and doesn't reply. " It was hate at first sight. We hated each other so much. We used to fight all the time that's how we fell in love" chuckles Jungkook.

" But I've never seen Dad even raise his voice against Appa," Jimin asks.

" That's Jungkook's Jin I guess" Jin winks at Jungkook. " To answer your question guys, yes we hated each other. I was very arrogan–"

"Yeobo" "Hyung" Jungkook and Hobi interrupt Jin.

" What?? I was arrogant. That's the reason, I had so many problems with Jungkook when I first met him. I don't think I would've been the king I am if not for my father and others sending me away. I learned so many things there. Most of all, I learned to be patient. What makes it even more special is that I met my mate, the love of my life, the anchor to my ship there." Jin moves his hand under the table, holds Jungkook's hand, and intertwines their fingers.
