As the race began, the boys’ focus shifted to the game in front of them, the competitive spirit igniting within each of them. Suneo leaned forward, his hands gripping the controls tightly as he tried to maintain the lead. Gian, as expected, played aggressively, bumping into other cars on the screen to slow them down. Meanwhile Nobita surprised everyone, including himself, by taking the lead and holding onto it until the final lap.

Dekisugi, however, stayed calm and focused, calculating his moves carefully. As the race neared its end, he saw an opening—a chance to overtake Suneo in the final stretch.

With a sharp turn and a well-timed boost, Dekisugi’s car shot past Suneo’s just as they crossed the finish line.

“YES!” Dekisugi shouted triumphantly, pumping his fist in the air. “I won!”

Suneo groaned, leaning back in his seat. “No way! How did you beat me?”

“Pure skill,” Dekisugi replied with a grin, clearly enjoying the moment of victory.

Gian chuckled, clapping Dekisugi on the back. “Not bad, Dekisugi. Maybe next time I’ll actually try.”

Nobita, despite coming in last, didn’t seem too bothered. He smiled, wiping the sweat from his forehead. “That was fun! I didn’t win, but I got closer than last time.”

As the boys stepped away from the machines, the competitive energy between them had shifted into something more relaxed, even friendly. For the first time in a long while, the four of them were together without the usual bickering or teasing getting in the way.

Dekisugi glanced at Nobita, feeling a familiar warmth in his chest. He wanted to tell him—wanted to finally admit his feelings—but now wasn’t the time. Instead, he simply smiled, content to be in Nobita’s company for the moment.

As they made their way to the exit, Gian’s phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out, frowning slightly as he read the message.

“Looks like Jaiko wants me home for dinner,” Gian said, slipping the phone back into his pocket. “I’ll see you guys later.”

Suneo shrugged. “I’m heading home too. I’ve got some work to do Bye.”

Dekisugi nodded as he watched them leave, feeling the weight of his thoughts settle back on his shoulders. He turned to Nobita, who was still standing by the door, looking a little lost in thought.

“Hey, Nobita,” Dekisugi said, walking over to him. “You okay?”

Nobita blinked, as if snapping out of a daydream. “Huh? Oh, yeah, I’m fine. Just thinking about…stuff.”

Dekisugi smiled gently, understanding the vague answer all too well. “Want to walk home together?”

Nobita looked at him, surprised, but then smiled. “Yeah, I’d like that.”

As they left the game center and walked side by side. They strolled down the dimly lit street, the sounds of the bustling arcade fading behind them, a comfortable silence settled between Dekisugi and Nobita. The cool evening breeze rustled the leaves of the trees lining the sidewalk, and the faint glow of streetlights created elongated shadows that danced along their path.

Nobita glanced at Dekisugi from the corner of his eye, feeling a warmth in his chest that he didn’t quite understand. Dekisugi had always been kind, always there for him when others weren't

“Thanks for sticking up for me earlier,” Nobita said quietly, breaking the silence. “I know I’m not the best at games or…well, anything, really.”
