A Tale as Old as Time

Chapter 2

Leah's pov:

Walker and I decided to re-watch the episode of dance moms that I watched without him. We started watching it because Walker wouldn't stop making fun of the show after I said how good it was.

I forced him to watch an episode and since then he has been hooked. We are rewatching a season from a few years ago. I was getting ready for him to come over. Reapplying my make and doing my hair. I was also getting snacks ready a bowl of blue M&Ms and a bowl of popcorn.

I set it all up on my bed. The bedroom was where the tv was so it was the most convenient. After waiting for ten minutes Walker finally showed up. "Oh my god Leah how did you only get blue M&Ms?" He laughed "let's just say I have a LOT of extra M&Ms to be eaten" Walker got a mischievous look on his face.

"Well you invited over the right guy" he said rubbing his hands together. I laughed and we sat down and got under the covers to watch the show. After about an hour I looked over and Walker had fallen asleep, I wasn't surprised because after the sugar high he was on I was sure the crash was going to be bad.

I paused the show and decided to go on my phone until Walker woke up. I was on instagram and I was looking at the Percy Jackson account when I noticed a comment under a picture of Walker and I. There were string of comments under it saying that i wasn't right for Annabeth because I was black. I know that many people think this and it usually doesn't bother me that much but I started crying.

I looked it to Walker and he was still asleep. I kept scrolling and I started crying harder as I read more and more hurtful comments.

Walker pov:

I woke up to Leah crying while she was looking at something on her phone she looked over at me and I pretended that I was asleep. When she looked back to her phone i turned to look at her. Without think I quickly sat up and pulled the phone out of her hands.

My eyes widen in shock when I saw what she was reading. I looked over at Leah to see she was still crying. "Leah" I whispered "why were you looking at this?" "I don't know" she hiccuped " I went on to the pjo account and I started looking at comments and...."

We locked eyes for about ten seconds neither of us saying anything, but the silence was deafening.

I pulled her into a tight hug her head resting on my chest. I put my hand on her back and my other on her head. She put her arms around my neck and started crying harder. "Leah listen, you are gorgeous and funny and brilliant and such a talented person. None of these stupid people have any idea what they are talking about. You are perfect for Annabeth I never will doubt that. I love you Leah you are my best friend."

She sniffed and said "thanks Walker I love you too." "Of course wise girl" I said. I held her for a while longer and I noticed that she had fallen asleep so I slowly leaned back and fell asleep myself with Leah in my arms.

Leah pov:

I woke up with my head on walkers chest and his arms tightly around my waist. I try to sit up but his arms pull me closer to him. I look up at his face. I note how his hair is slightly over his eyes and a his lips are in a small smile.

I wonder what he is dreaming about.

And I feel my cheeks heat up. I have never doubted that Walker is good looking I mean he's got the entire teenage girl population head over heels for him. I'd have to be crazy to not also think he is handsome but I have never thought about him as more than a friend, but now here I am in his arms in my bed and my heart rate is getting fast and I can feel myself blushing.

I place my hand on his neck put my head back on his chest and try to go back to sleep. But one question keeps me awake: I only think of Walker as a friend, right?

A few minutes go by and I feel Walker shift beneath me and I think he is waking up and my heart beat picks up. What will he say when he wakes up to us cuddling? Lucky for me he just shifts slightly sighs and goes back to sleep. I close my eyes and bury my face in his neck and drift back to sleep.
