It had been three months since the China Open, and Jangmi still wasn't talking to Jungkook. She wouldn't even acknowledge him during practice, and during competitions she kept their interactions to a bare minimum. They still managed to win a few titles, but it was uncomfortable to be around them, in that environment. Even their coach had realized it but had no idea what to do with them.
"I don't know what to do with those kids anymore!"
"Give them time Taufik, China Open is still a fresh wound for them." Coach Taufik was about to get off from work, and one of his coworkers invited him out for drinks. The stress of dealing with Jangmi and Jungkook was getting to him, so he gladly accepted the invitation.
"It shouldn't be. Jungkook is a brilliant athlete with outstanding technique, but he just won't listen. He's too hot headed, and thinks he always knows best. And Jangmi... Again, she's an outstanding player, with refined technique and the mindset of a champion but she won't cooperate. She got it in her head that she wants a new partner, and now she won't even make an effort to make things work with Jungkook."
"I say you wait for the world championships. If they can't push their differences aside for the sake of being WORLD CHAMPIONS, then I don't think they'll work in the long run anyway. But these are their first World Championships, I bet you a tournament like that is just what they need to bring them together!"
"I hope you're right."
"Jimin!" she squealed and dropped her racket as she saw her boyfriend approach them during their practice. She ran to him and jumped onto his lap, almost knocking him over.
"Mimi! I missed you so much!" he gave her one deep kiss, before gently putting her down again.
"But we saw each other yesterday, silly!" she giggled like a teenager having her first crush.
"I know, but I just miss you all the time, like that!"
Jungkook mocked his words silently with a disgusted face, as he rolled his eyes. He had always noticed how the two were close, but he didn't actually think they would ever become a thing. Mostly because Jimin spent more time outside of the country in training camps than in Korea.
"Are you excited about the world championships?"
"Absolutely! I'm hoping I can bring the trophy home. And from what I've been seeing, You and Jungkook will probably do well too!"
"I mean, yeah. If Jungkook doesn't mess up again, then we will for sure be world champions."
"Don't be so hard on him. He made a mistake, happens to all of us, Jangmi. He's still a great player, and a better fit for your playing style than I could ever be."
"But it wouldn't happen if he would've just fucking listened!"
Jungkook scoffed and poked his cheek with his tongue. "Are you done talking about me like I'm not here!? If you have a problem with me, I would appreciate you discuss it with me!"
