Alex Rosa burst into his room, slamming the door behind him with a force that echoed in the silence of the night. Outside, the air was thick with the blaring of sirens, slicing through the stillness like a knife and draping an unsettling tension over everything. It felt as if the very atmosphere was charged with unease. He paused for a moment, straining to listen, his heart pounding erratically in his chest. A loud boom reverberated in the distance, causing his pulse to quicken. Was it The Rogues making their move again? Anxiety gripped him tightly, and he glanced out the window, uncertainty flooding his thoughts like a tidal wave.

Suddenly, another thunderous sound erupted from the direction of his kitchen, jolting him upright. This noise was sharper and more urgent than the last, like the shattering of glass or the crash of something heavy falling. Instinct kicked in; he knew he couldn't remain hidden for long if there was a threat nearby. Turning to face the door, he felt an unsettling mix of dread and curiosity wash over him, each emotion pulling him in opposing directions. What awaited him beyond his threshold?

Just then, something scraped against his arm, sending a sharp jolt of pain through him. It cut through the haze of fear, and he screamed in agony, the sound echoing off the walls of his room. Panic surged inside him; he gasped, feeling a sudden wave of disorientation. Fear bolted through him like electricity. Was he dead? Had he somehow been ambushed in his own home? Questions raced through his mind, battering against his instinct to flee. Every fiber of his being screamed at him to escape, but something compelled him to find out what was happening.

With the haunting memory of his mother's recent death weighing heavily on his heart, he thought of her courage, and how she faced danger without flinching. Maybe this was a test—a moment to show the strength she had instilled in him. Could it be that The Rogues were closer than he realized? The moment's urgency blinked in his mind as he prepared to confront whatever lay ahead, hoping to honor her memory in the process.
