Hidan struck first, his leviathan scythe crashing into the ground with earthshattering force as the entire battlefield had to steady themselves to keep from falling. With a lull in the combat, they all looked to the intruder.
“Akatsuki!” Kiba exclaimed.
“Ah, Sasori. You decided to join us after all.” Orochimaru smiled.
Sasori's tail waved about as he stepped further past Hidan. “Orochimaru... traitor to the akatsuki and former member of the Sannin, your death is here.”
He chuckled, his lips perked up in a smile with amusement. “You're always so serious, Sasori.”
“Enough talking. Let's just kill them already,” Hidan complained.
“Quiet,“ Sasori ordered, his irritation thinly-veiled. He narrowed his eyes at Orochimaru, his tail swishing back and forth like a slithering snake. “He's mine.”
Sasori sprung forth, flipping in the air to bring his tail down on Orochimaru...
“DYNAMIC ENTRY!!!”

Silence swept over the room as she paused to let her words sink in...
Gaara was in disbelief. “The leaf village had one of their own clans killed?”
“Yes.”
“Why?” he asked.
“Because they were planning a coup,” she explained. “Lord Third waited for as long as he could before having them executed, but it was clear they would not budge. So, the night before their revolt, he and the council of elders had Itachi terminate them. But in doing so, he came across a group. This group was known as the Akatsuki. Once the clan had been disposed of, Itachi Uchiha asked Lord Third to watch over Satsuki.”
“But why? Why tell me this?”
“After slaughtering his own clan, Itachi decided to join the Akatsuki but as a spy. He corresponded with Jiraiya, giving him information on the Akatsuki's whereabouts and plans.”
“I still don't know why you would tell me this...”
“Well that is simple:... Because Naruto trusts you, and despite whatever may have happened in the past the village hidden in the sand is our closest ally. And this is important.”
“What is?”
“When Itachi joined the Akatsuki, he told us something. Something I struggle to even believe myself. In fact, it is the reason why Lord Third did what he did to Naruto in the first place.”
“What is it?”
“The leader of the Akatsuki... Is Madara Uchiha.”

Guy smashed his leg into Sasori, sending him flying back and slamming into the ground with excruciating force. “DYNAMIC ENTRY!!!”
“Sensei!” Rock Lee cheered.
Deidara immediately ran to check on Sasori. “Are you okay?”
“I'm fine.”
But Kakuzu was annoyed. “This is stupid. Hidan, kill them.”
He smiled viciously. “With pleasure.”
He swung his humongous scythe around, swinging it back at Guy. Asuma jumped to block it with his knives, fending it off.
“Not today, pal.”
Kakuzu pressed his hand to the ground. “Earth Spike Jutsu!”
Asuma and Guy jumped back, avoiding the protruding spikes from the ground. Kakashi jumped in with a Chidori. Kakuzu swerved in avoidance, his hardened fist coming down on Kakashi, cracking his jaw, and Kakashi tumbled back, just barely keeping his footing. Kakuzu wrapped his arms around his midsection from behind, throwing him into a pile of rocks.
