Chapter 1

It's my first year of high school, and I'm already messing up. I'm gonna be late to class because I forgot my locker combination. 3-22-3? What the heck is the last number. Wait a second. I quickly digged through my front pocket and pulled out a small piece of paper. 3-22-36. I quickly turned the lock and threw my bag in there. Then ran to class.
"Late on your first day Mr. Leon."
It was so embarrassing, everyone in the class stared up at me. Stupid teacher, I thought. Then I looked at all the desks and found an open one at the way back. I smiled. I hope we're not allowed to turn around in this class.
"Alright class , take out a piece of paper and start writing about your summer. I want full paragraphs. 5 of them." I open up my binder, and quickly look for a piece of paper. "If you are not prepared today,  then borrow from someone and hurry it up, I've only got 45 minutes with you."
Pencil! I thought. How can I forget a pencil.
"Here."
I turned around to see a beautiful blonde girl, with sparking blue eyes.
"Uh, umm, oh uh thanks." I froze
"My name is Bella. Yours?"
She was stunning. I felt like I had a rock in my throat.
"Oh, me, I'm Leon."
"Less chatter,  more writing, the two in the back."
I swear,  if this teacher embarrasses me one more time we are going to have a problem.
After class I went to my locker. Put all my stuff neatly in there and headed to gym.
The hallway was crowded. Some freshmens were on the floor, being bullied by seniors. And thud. I bumped into Bella. "I am so sorry, I wasn't paying attention. Umm."
"It's okay. So, Leon, right? Well, what class do you got next?"
"Yea, uh I got gym,  what about.. "
"Me too! Can we walk together there?"
She cut me off, but honestly I didn't care cause she was cute.
"Sure why not? I don't think it's safe to walk in these halls alone anyways."
I smiled, then she smiled. We headed to gym and got to know each other a bit. "So, do you wanna have lunch with me?" She was a brave and confident girl, and she was not afraid to say what she wanted to say.
"Yeah." I looked at her and her skin was perfect. Her teeth we're straight. Her lip gloss looked perfect on her and her hair was beautiful. I mean she was like an Angel.
"Well, well. What do we have here? Freshmen."
It was a football player like 10 inches taller than us. He winked at Bella, then frowned at me.
"You single?"he looked at Bella with an innocent face.
"Yea, but I wouldn't date you. You're like 4 years older than  me and stink like wet dog." Her trash talk made me like her even more.
"Babe, chillax. It's called sweat." He said, as if they were already dating.
"Don't ever call me that. Talk to you in a bit Leon." Then she strode off to the girls locker room.
I turned to see the Jock staring as at me with harsh  eyes. "I, uh, gotta go get dressed." Then I ran to the boys locker room. Avoiding an arguement.
When I walked in the boys locker room, it did smell like wet dog. But the looks were even worse. You had jocks with a towel around there waist lower than you would think. Skinny guys, to where you can actually see their ribs. Then the shy ones, who put their gym clothes over their school clothes. I looked at all the lockers and looked for one that was open. OK. Plan: I'm going to grab my gym clothes, put my bag in the locker then close it, next I will go to the bathroom and change in there.
OK,  I was a bit shy but the smart kind. I walked out of the bathroom and headed for the door.
"Huh, where you think you're going?" It was the football player with 2 others.
Oh, no. I thought.
"To the gym. Heh." I cleared my throat.
"I think you are gonna be late, right boys." They nodded with a smile on their face.
I turned around and started to run, but next thing you know I was on the floor.  They picked me and pinned me against the locker. I spit in their face and then I got thrown on the floor, and punched like 20 times. Then kicked. Afterwards they laughed and walked out of the gym. Then I started to cry.
I'm already starting to miss middle school. I walked to the bathroom and looked at my face. It was bloody, purple, and black. It was just messed up. I grabbed a paper towel and poured water on it, then softly wiped my face with it. It hurt.
"Leon, what did they do to you?"
Bella ran over and gave a hug. Despite the pain I was happy she was there for me.
"Oh, I just got hit a couple times, times ten."
"I am so sorry, let me help you. She grabbed the wet paper and delicately wiped my face. She smiled. "If you're wondering, you still look good." I smiled. "Thanks. You're really sweet."
"No problem. I love helping people anyways." Talking to her made me forget what happened. It was like all the pain was flying away. It felt amazing. "Alright, all the blood is gone,  and the blackness is now purple and the purple is now pink. One eye is bigger than the other though." She giggled. "I'm sorry. Lets just say you ran into a locker or a door."
"We can go with that. I don't wanna get beat up again for snitching."
"Agreed." She glowed.
She grabbed my hands,"You are going to be okay. I will be here for you."
I grinned.
"Also, let's stay in here or we will both get yelled at for being late." She smirked.
"Uh." I grabbed my stomach. I felt the bruises and bumps it hurt so bad. "Let me see." She demanded. She lifted my shirt. She told me how many bruises we're there and poked them to see which one hurt the most. I told her all of them,  then she wet her hand and massaged my belly. It felt nice. She pulled my shirt down,  when she heard the boys coming back in the locker room. "I got to go, but you should probably get out of here too."
"Good idea, I'll see you later." I smiled then turned.
"Yea, also, nice ABS." She ran out of the locker and I smiled. I then got dressed and went to my next class, only thinking about her.
