The air was cold and bitter on a chilly Friday morning, with dark clouds rolling overhead signalling the possible arrival of rain later in the day. John Davidson. It was the middle of August and was the middle of the school term. John Davidson worn and weary found peace knowing tomorrow was Saturday so he could stay up late tonight and play video games. John and his mum Kelly moved to the small country town of Redfield in two thousand and two when John's mum and dad divorced after John's dad got drunk and decided to hit his mum and John's mum decided enough was enough and they both moved away from Melbourne to Redfeild. When they moved to Redfeild the population was only five thousand but over the past nine years the population grew to ten thousand people and is one of the biggest imports of grapes in the country. John was waiting patiently at the bus stop which was two streets away from where his house was. John has been catching the bus ever since he came to Redfeild as his mum works at the local pig factory in the town and is always starting at work at four thirty every weekday. And catching the bus was really John's only option unless he wanted to get school at four am every morning.

John felt the cold air wrap around him so he tightened his jacket more trying to keep himself warm. Redfeild was infamous for surfing mother natures wrath during winter with the temperatures plummeting towards minus two degrees Celsius every morning. Most people don't like catching the bus as it already takes a lot of time to get from home to school and then back home after school. But for John that wasn't and issue for him he loved catching the bus as he found it relaxing and it was an escape from the crap his young mind felt with on a daily basis. Another reason he loved catching the bus was because his best friend in the whole world Khloe Mendricks catches the same bus as him. John met Khloe in two thousand and four when she moved to Redfeild from Sydney. John and Khloe at first didn't become friends but in June of that year every year one students went to the Brisbane museum and that day they shared a bus seat together and after that day they have been best friends for seven amazing years. Their bond, forged on a foundation of trust and shared experiences, held no secrets and harboured no reservations. When it was either the weekends, school holidays and even birthdays. every moment of their free time was they would share it together.

But for John Khloe was not the one and only reason that he loved catching the bus so much, because another reason was because a girl who John is Madly in love with Emily Cross also catches the same bus as John and Khloe. John has been in love with Emily ever since she moved to Redfeild Three years ago. Her beautiful smile and enchanting demeanour made him fall in love from the moment she caught his eyes. Every Time he has a chance he tries to muster up the courage to sit as close to her as possible and maybe even tell her how he feels about her but he always chickens out at the last minute.

As the minutes went by, the loud sound of voices started to fade in as rhetorical rest of the school kids started to arrived waiting for the bus to arrive. The sound of them talking to each other got to loud for John to handle so he grabbed out his headphones to possibly draw out the noise. But before John could press play on this music he felt a gentle tap on his shoulder and when he turned around he saw Hillary Jandles, a girl who John had a few classes with

"Hey John do you know what the time is" said Hillary

John muttered in his thoughts

"God why are you bothering me you have a phone don't you" he said in his head

he just wanted to be left alone but he knew he shouldn't be rude, so he removed his headphones, his attention now focused on the girl before him. He took a glance at his phone and looked at the time.

"It's seven thirty-five. It's strange that the bus hasn't arrived yet. It's normally here by now" he said in annoyance

"Oh, okay. I'm sure it'll be here soon. Thanks anyway John," Hillary said, turning her attention back to her friends, continuing their conversation.
What John didn't know is that Hillary had deep feelings for John that ran deeper then being friends. She has had feelings for him ever since she met John when he was the first person to make her feel welcomed at school when she moved to Redfeild at the start of the year from Perth. Hillary has always known that John likes Emily mainly from the way he always looks at her. Another Ten minutes went by and it was now seven forty five, and still, the bus was nowhere to be seen. Frustration seeped into John's thoughts.
