"I, uh... suppose I have my moments..." he muttered, his voice uncharacteristically soft. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________harry then flew past him to make a u tern and then faced the way Malfoy was. "let's go towards the forest before we have to go back to meet curfew."Malfoy blinked, still a bit flustered from their close proximity a moment ago, but he quickly recovered and nodded. "Lead the way." he said, trying to regain his usual confidence.
He followed Harry closely as they flew towards the dark line of the forest, the night sky stretching out above them. harry slowly moved and looked at the sky. at a point above the forest, he stopped and looked back at Malfoy. "You like the sky?" Malfoy stopped beside Harry, his gaze following his and looking up at the star-filled sky as well.
"It's not bad," he admitted, a hint of a smile on his face. "Always pretty, no matter the time." His eyes flicked back to Harry. "Do you like it?" "yeah." he wispered and then looked at malfoy again. right back in the eyes. 'i dont think hermione was right. i dont see hunger...' "we should go back." Malfoy held his gaze for a moment, feeling a strange flutter in his chest. He had expected their little outing in the skies to be filled with banter and insults, but somehow it had turned into this - a brief moment of shared quiet under the stars.
He nodded, reluctantly agreeing that they had to head back. "Yeah, you're right. Curfew..." his voice trailed off, and he looked away from Harry's intense stare. as they landed back at Hogwarts harry led them back to the entrance. "This should give us both time to get to our common rooms. see you tomorrow Malfoy." Malfoy followed Harry back to the entrance, the brief moment of tranquility in the sky now replaced by their usual uneasy dynamic.
"Right, see you, Potter." he said, trying to sound disinterested, but a small hint of disappointment flashed in his eyes. He turned to go towards the dungeons, his mind filled with swirling thoughts of green eyes and endless sky. as harry made it back to his shared room he realized today was the fastest he fell asleep.
*the next day*
Harry woke up feeling strangely refreshed, his usual morning grogginess replaced with a surprising amount of energy.
He got ready for the day, his mind going back to the previous night. The unexpected encounter with Malfoy in the sky, the subtle looks and the strange moments of shared silence. He pushed the thoughts aside as he walked to the Great Hall for breakfast. he was met with Hermione and Ron at the table already. "Harry, mate, where were you last night?" Ron asked. then Hermione stepped in "I would like to know too. Ron said that you were late, and he didn't even see you come in." Ron the intervened. "I saw you broom was gone! did you go flying?"
harry then sat down next to Ron and the farthest from Hermione, who is too much like a mother, and said "I did go flying, the stares were perfect." but he wasn't sure he was only talking about the stares. "Why didn't you ask me to go with you? I would have loved it!" Ron said. "You know harry; I would have liked to come along to." Ron then gave her a look. "What? I may not fly but I do like to watch." she then ate again.as time went on he finished his food and went to class while Hermione and Ron argued about whatever they did. Harry made his way to his first class of the day, his mind still preoccupied with the thoughts of Malfoy. The classes dragged on, though he found himself zoning out during most of them. He tried to put the previous night out of his mind, but it kept creeping back in, flashing through his mind in random moments.
