Author's note: I want to clarify that this chapter will be divided into two parts for two different reasons:
1- The first part of the chapter is narrated from Damian's perspective, the second will be narrated from Garnico's perspective and will be easier to read if divided into two parts.
2- The chapter is too long.
It was too early to be awake, the problem is that once again I could not sleep. I left my room, seeing how the sun shone over the camp, and remembered the man in the infirmary. I never understood what he said about that "shepherd," maybe he was just delirious or something like that, but I was still curious and perhaps he was feeling better to tell the story.
Standing at the door of the infirmary, I hesitated for a moment about what I was doing, but then I heard the voices of two angels approaching, and I hid behind the other side of the door.
- Do you really think that he found him? - asked Zara's monotone voice.
- From what I heard, the shepherd is safe in the middle of a cave - Zadkiel's voice replied - even if he did meet that antisocial hermit, I don't think that's important.
- Maybe you're right, everyone must see that man as a paranoid person. Surely, they won't believe him at all...
- Zara - Ariel's voice interrupted - they have arrived...
- Ah, them... - Zara commented.
- Do you want me to bring the chains to keep them under control? And maybe we'll be need a muzzle - Ariel inquired.
- It's not necessary this time - Zara responded - they are not the same ones you usually deal with, these are civilized...
Their voices faded as they continued talking, and I only understood that perhaps the Spaniard knew something important about this place. I slowly approached his bed, I didn't mind waking him up if it was for a greater good. However, I saw that the door on the other side of the room was slowly opening, and I threw myself to the floor before anyone saw me, hiding under one of the beds.
From under the bed, I perceived a woman entering the infirmary and approaching the Spaniard's bed. I observed her closely and noticed I had never seen her before. She wore a black cloak, had abundant red hair like blood, and her eyes were green. Suddenly, she woke the man by caressing his head.
- Francisco, wake up - the woman's sweet voice whispered.
- What...? - The man responded, barely waking up - What are you doing here? How is this possible?
- That's not important. Flee from here with me! Isn't that what you want?
- I can't do that to her, Lilith - the man continued - you know I can't...
- Please. Didn't you miss me? - the woman interrupted, taking the Spaniard's hand.
- Of course I missed you, but you can't ask me this out of the blue, I don't even believe it's possible to get out of here!
- I found a way to do it. We can escape without problems and have a life together! - she responded, getting closer to him - Isn't that what you want?
- ...A life together? - he asked, releasing his hand - You're not Lilith! Where is she? How do you know her?!
The woman began to laugh uncontrollably, and I saw how she transformed in a matter of seconds. Her white skin, hair, and eyes darkened, her long mane turn in shorts hair, and finally, she let the cloak that covered her fall, revealing a black uniform with golden ornaments and a pair of horns protruding from her black hair. I noticed that her face had also changed to a younger one. At the end of the transformation, she continued to laugh out loud, while the man was fled the place scared.
