I'm neither a jock nor the most handsome guy at school, and I'm definitely not a nerd. My group of six friends and I fall somewhere in between. We do well academically, but we also enjoy playing sports. It's a tricky balance because most girls here seem to prefer the muscular jocks who are full of themselves.
Recently, I saw a girl I've never noticed before, and she was stunning. She wasn't seeking attention or making a scene; she was just quietly going through her locker. Her long, wavy chestnut-brown hair was pulled back into a ponytail. She wore black leggings, a simple grey sweater, and white Converse sneakers. Her outfit was understated, and she wasn't flaunting any of the popular brands that most other girls wear. She seemed genuine, and I found that incredibly refreshing. I really liked that about her. Now, I just need to find her again today and muster up the courage to talk to her.
As usual, I approached my friends who were gathered around the locker we always hang out by every morning. I was about to tell them about the girl I'd seen.
"Hey guys, yesterday I saw this girl," I began.
"Whoa, really?" Kyle responded, his eyes widening with interest.
Now all six of the guys were focused on me.
"Yeah, she's really pretty. I think I'm going to try and talk to her today," I said, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness.
"Well, good luck!" Tom said with a supportive grin.
"Just make sure you stay calm and be really nice," Caleb advised.
"Yeah, yeah, I know," I laughed, trying to brush off my nerves.
With that, I turned and headed off, determined to find this girl before the bell rang for the next class.
