Tyler walked to the door, to see Amelia struggling with her coat.
He went to help her with it.
"No, no, I got it." Amelia smirked, and buttoned up. The bleak feeling dinner had given Tyler had almost left completely with the smirk she gave.
She stood on her toes and gave Tyler a peck on the check.
"Let's go then." Tyler opened the door, and let Amelia in front of him.
"Hey! I didn't put salt on those stairs, so be careful! Be back at nine!" (21:00 for you military timers) Tyler heard before closing the door.
Tyler looked around at the winter landscape, and laughed in enjoyment.
"Isn't it beautiful?" Amelia acknowledged. Tyler could see her breath puff out like clouds from beneath her nose. She practically ran down the stairs and into the front lawn.
Tyler's eyes widened in excitement and he followed, forgetting about the unsalted steps.
"We can make snow angels!" Amelia exclaimed, clapping. She laid down in the snow and moved her limbs to form one.
Tyler did the same.
He sat up, feeling the cold snow on his legs. Amelia sat up too.
"Your hair is wet," Tyler tells her. Her hair was also tangled throughout her earmuffs.
"I don't care about that," She says, laying a hand on his cheek. "How about that walk we're going on?" She asked, situating her jacket. Her shoulders were shaking.
"Yeah." He grabbed Amelia's hand and stood up. "But something about these snow angels is missing."
"Oh! I know what," Amelia said. She walked around the snow angels, got a stick from the tree , and drew a heart in between the heads. She situated the stick so that her snow angel was holding it.
"Perfect," She whispered, looking back at the angels.
"More than perfect," Tyler smiles, taking Amelia's hand as they begin to walk through the driveway.
The nighttime sky contrasted greatly with the falling snowflakes, and set a scene that would look as if it was in a Christmas card. The sidewalks had little snow on them, and the yards of these few houses on the block had lights so bright and colorful they defeated the purpose of streetlights.
They walked close together, it was colder than last night. But the weather wasn't the only reason they walked closely to one another.
"You know, Josh kept on asking me about why you don't have money for video games anymore," Amelia mentioned.
"Did you tell him?" Tyler stopped walking, sounding surprised with his eyebrows raised.
"Of course not, we promised to not tell anyone until we get enough money to buy the rings," Amelia said, beckoning Tyler to keep walking. Her foot made contact with a small sheet of ice at the end of the driveway, causing her feet to come out from under her. Her heart rate quickened as she felt Tyler pull her up from under her shoulders.
"You okay?" He questions, examining for any injury.
Amelia laughed.
Tyler pats her shoulder, and they walk, a bit more cautious this time.
