"Hey, are you going to sleep all day?" One of the kakushi screamed at Tanjiro, who was still unconscious on the floor in front of us. The master had summoned the pillars for a meeting.
The boy raised his head and opened his eyes to see seven of the ten hashiras standing in front of him.
"Bummer. I heard this boy had a demon in tow. I was expecting something a little more flamboyant! He looks so drab." Tengen Uzui, the Pillar of Sound, was the first to speak, his gems swaying with the breeze.
Gyomei Himejima rubbed his hands and beads together in prayer before Rengoku stepped forward.
"I see! We're here for his trial!" His loud but friendly voice beamed.
Mitsuri was lost in thought as she brought her hand up to her cheek, her eyes sparkling with excitement and concern.
"Who are these people?" Tanjiro managed to get out before his head was slammed into the ground by the kakushi who had dragged him to the garden.
"Shut up, moron, just who do you think is in front of you? You're in the presence of the hashira!"
"This is the demon slayer headquarters, and you, Tanjiro Kamado, are about to be put on trial!" Shinobu explained.
"Protecting a demon is against the rules; we are within our rights to deal with him right now!" Rengoku said a big smile still on his face. "We shall behead them both!"
"In that case, I'll volunteer to do it with style! It'll be the most flamboyant blood spray you'll ever witness!" Tengen started to back him up before he was cut off by Gyomei.
"Ah, what a pitiful sight is this boy. The poor soul. I pity him for ever being born at all." Tears streamed down the gentle giant's blank face.
Muichiro wasn't paying much attention, asking what the shape of a cloud was.
"That's a dragon, Mui," I told him as I patted the child on the head. He looked up at me and smiled slightly.
"These are the ten highest-ranking swordsmen in all of the demon slayer corps. You better listen to every word they say!" The kakushi whispered to Tanjiro, who seemed to be getting more confused by the second.
"I think we should put him out of his misery," Himejima spoke. Shouts of agreement came from Kyojuro and Tengen.
"Nezuko! Where are you? Zenitsu? Inosuke? Murata!" The boy screamed for his comrades before the Pillar of Serpents joined the conversation.
"Forget about that, What should we do with Tomioka?" Obanai Iguro questioned.
"He betrayed us just as much as they did by harbouring this creature," I added.
"Don't you have anything to say, Tomioka?" He questioned. Giyu stood there silently, his back turned away from us. Misturi looked up at Iguro, who was perched on a tree just above her; she was lovestruck. She looked at the silent and brooding Tomioka before smiling, deep in thought.
"He's fine, he did come along without resisting, we'll work out a punishment later," Shinobu told him gently. "I'm interested in hearing the boy's explanation. There must be a reason for him carrying a demon. Tanjiro Kamado, were you aware that this was against the rules? Why were you travelling with a demon?" She questioned the boy, telling him to take his time.
"She's my... She's my..." He was cut off by his broken jaw, and Shinobu crouched to give him some water, which contained painkillers.
"So?"
"That demon is my sister; my family was attacked by a demon when I was away. She was the only one to survive. Even though she has turned into a demon, Nezuko has never eaten a human being, and she never will."
