A WEEK LATER

I brushed back my hair with my fingers. Oh god, why was it so annoying!? I grabbed a ribbon from my pocket and tied my hair with it. I sighed, finally content.

Aisha shot me a glance from across the class, then mouthed 'you look gorgeous baby girl '. I smiled at her. This girl was so funny.

Bringing me out of my thoughts, my teacher called me. "Maria, please remain focused on the task at hand."

"Okay sir." I replied, and looked ahead again.

As soon as the bell rang, signalling the end of the lesson, I packed away my things, only to dragged away by Aisha. She literally sprinted, causing me to have to sprint too.

"Where are we going?" I asked her.

"Do you live under a rock?" she asked me.

I raised my eyebrows at her. "You know I don't."

 "Just kidding!" she said.

"Anyways, where are we going?" I asked her.

"To the football pitch, duh!" she said. "My man's gonna be there!"

My head immediately flicked to face her. "You're lying right? You don't have a man, last time I checked."

"I will have one soon, and thanks to you!" she said. "You know who I'm talking about, don't you?"

"I don't know." I said. "You have so many crushes!"

"I'm talking about Ayaan!" she said. "He's gonna be playing there and I want to see him."

I nodded slowly. "Oh okay, so you want to stalk him?"

"Yaar! Stop making it sound so bad!" she said. "He's literally my boyfriend!"

I laughed at her. "Stop being delusional."

"Maria! You know what I mean don't you?" she asked me as we neared the pitch.

"Okay okay." I said, as we walked to where everyone was stood, watching the football match.

About half an hour later, everyone began leaving, but Aisha dragged me forward, right up to Ayaan.

Just as he was drinking water from his bottle, Aisha dragged me with her to him. "Hey Ayaan!" she said, giving him a sickly sweet smile - ugh, girls in love.

He looked up at her, his shock evident on his face. "Um.... Maria, why are you here?"

I looked at him. Why did he have to talk to me for? Now Aisha's going to get jealous, ugh, this dude!

"Aisha wanted to talk to you." I said, looking at him. "Not me, don't get the wrong idea."

He narrowed his eyes at me. "I don't want to talk to anyone."

Aisha looked at me, tears in her eyes.

I shrugged my shoulders at her, to see her cheeks wet, she removed her arm from mine and ran away, crying.

I looked at her, her running away from me and was about to run after her when I felt someone pulling my arm.

 "Leave her." Ayaan said.

I turned to face him. "Why?"

 "She's obviously upset." he said.

"Hmmm..I wonder why!" I said, mocking him.

He rolled his eyes at me. "Come on, it's not my fault, she's obsessed with me."

I snorted. "Don't get gassed. She just had a crush on you."

"I'm not." he said and then began walking away.

I stayed rooted to the spot.

He turned back. "Come on, we need to get back to lessons."

"Fine." I said and began walking towards him.

"Tell your friend I'm sorry, but I don't like her." he said, brushing his fingers through his hair.

"How about you tell her yourself?" I asked him.

"No. I don't want to do that!" he said.

"Ugh! Why are you so annoying?" I asked him.

"I'm not." he said. "And about your friend, she can cry all she wants, I'm not in love with her. "

"But she's going to think I told you to say this!" I argued with him.

"But you didn't." he said. "Your an amazing friend for coping with her for so long!"

I narrowed my eyes at him, and that's when an idea struck me.

"How about you ask her to prom? It's in two weeks!" I asked him, jumping up and down. "She'll be so happy!"

He shook his head. "I'm not doing that."

"Please!" I begged him. "It's the most you can do, after making my only friend angry with me."

He sighed, then after three long minutes, he spoke. "Fine, but on one condition."

 I nodded. "Sure."

"You have to be there." he said, watching me.

 "Why?" I asked him.

He removed his gaze from me. "You know, in case she bargains acting up."

"Okay." I said. "I'll make sure you're both prom king and queen."

"No need to go that far." he said.

"Be quiet." I said. "By the way, you need to ask her out for prom, like everyone else does."

"So much people wanted to go to prom with me, but in the end, I have to go with a random girl I don't even have any romantic interest in." he mumbled.

"Sorry." I said. "I'm only doing this to make her happy."

"She doesn't deserve you." he said, his eyes boring into mine.

I rolled my eyes at him.

"Anyways, I'm going to go now." I said. " you just make sure to ask her for prom! "

"Okay, I will." he said. "Only for you."

I looked back at him, to see his eyes on me. I tried to stop my heartbeat from beating so loud. "See you tomorrow for tuition."

"You too." he said and then walked off.
