ARCADIA BAY WAS a thing of the past. She took her girlfriend and left the town that once was. They were so in love, they traveled the world together. Max Caulfield and her blue-haired love were inseparable, they've been through thick and thin together, including the day Chloe finally got along with her stepfather, David.

Although they were in love, Max always had the feeling that Chloe was still stuck on Rachel Amber, even after all the time she's been dead. She was right.

One day while Max was at school at Caledon University, she received the confirmation that Chloe was having second thoughts. She had received a letter full of heartbreak, Chloe had broken up with her. To her, that was the end of the world, it killed her. She thought that she would never find love again. From that point, she would always describe them as the high school sweethearts that couldn't survive.

While she was out on a walk, Max met that girl that would change her life.

Y/n Murphy.

To Max, she was the most beautiful girl in the world. She seemed like the popular type like she was friends with everyone. Something about her seemed familiar to Max, she just couldn't put her finger on it. "You must be Max Caulfield." Those were the first words that Y/n had said to her. "I've heard so much about you, I've been dying to meet you." She continued.

"You've heard about me?" Max replied with a tone of disbelief. She wondered what she could have heard about her, she was just a girl, not a celebrity. "Well, I can only hope that you heard good things." She spoke, soon letting out a chuckle.

"You're funny, I like you already."

Just like that, Y/n dragged Max along to meet her friend group and the rest was history.

That gets the group to where they are today. Christmas was just around the corner, and most of the group was excited. They sat in the campus bar at their regular booth, discussing their plans for Christmas break. "I think we should do a Secret Santa-type thing before we all go home for the holidays," Raven spoke up, quickly earning a look from Y/n. Unlike her brother, Moses, she wasn't that fond of Christmas.

Y/n blamed her ex for that.

"You know it wouldn't kill you to be excited about Christmas this one time," Cat spoke, quickly defending her girlfriend. When it came to Raven, Cat couldn't stand anyone being what she saw as mean to her, the look that Y/n gave her wasn't even okay. "Not to mention, aren't you going home with Max for Christmas this year? You've got to be excited about that, at last." She pointed out.

"I am excited to be with her, but I'm still not excited about the holiday as a whole." She argued.

Now, there was a tense silence air, replacing the noise. It was making everyone uncomfortable, including the people that caused it. Moses cleared his throat, now getting his chance to speak. "To change the subject, there's a meteor shower tonight, who wants to watch it with me?" He asked curiously, looking around the group for any volunteers. Just like clockwork, Raven and Cat had stood up from the table and left the bar. "Well, that's one way to tell me no."

"We'll go with you, Moses." His best friend, Safi.

"Great!" He happily replied as he stood up from the booth, now collecting his things. It was clear that he was looking forward to this, as much as Y/n didn't want to go, she wasn't going to disappoint her brother. "I'll see you guys tonight on the roof of the astronomy building." He excitedly spoke with a smile, leaving the girls alone with their drinks.

Instead of speaking her mind, Y/n decided to finish her drink in silence. The last thing she wanted to do was say something she would regret. "I'm going to go get ready for tonight, I'll see you guys later," Safi spoke before turning to her friend. "You will be there, and you will support your brother." Her tone coming out stern.
