It wasn't always like this. The air was clear, the flora of the Earth was booming in color, and the sky was blue. Now only sticks of trees remain, The air is foggy, and a dark shadow covered the Earth. Now all we could do is hope for the very best. It October 17th 2052. I was walking to school, It was our first day back after a school shooting that had happen 2 weeks before. Everyday time I heard a loud noise I would flinch like a scared puppy. The sounds of gun shots and screaming still haunt me to this day. I've been trying to put all this behind me but it just keeps following me like stalker in the middle of the night. I walked into the gate and I was greeted with a water bottle to the head. "Geez Louise if you're going to throw something in the trash can actually make in there!" I yelled. "Whatever" one of the boys said. I stormed off to go find my friends Catty, Ali, and Jy'Ere. Jy'Ere was year older then all of us since he had been held back in fourth grade for no reason, so he was the big brother of the group who was really sassy, funny, mean, sarcastic, and sometimes even nice. He was also gay which doesn't really matter but just wanted to point that out so the reader doesn't think we like each other. Catty was the sweet one who always cared for people, Ali was the quiet on of the group who hardly ever said anything. So I was surprised when I saw her and Jy'Ere arguing with some boy named Bentley. They were arguing about how he had been stalking her at recess and in the hallways Etc. Bentley was known for stalking people, I was even a victim for his stalking. But still that gave him no right. I went over there to comfort catty who seemed scared and worried for might happen next. Then Jy'Ere moved Ali to the side and stepped in front of Bentley while putting his dreads up. "Uh oh" Catty said. "Uh oh indeed" I added. Jy'Ere put his dreads up in bun and stepped closer to Bentley. "Do you wanna fight Bitch?!" Jy'Ere asked politely. That was his way of saying I'm going to whoop your ass. "Matter a fact I do you've been getting on my nerves all year" Bentley said. First of all that was a lie it was the other way around that's why they were in the mess in the first place, plus what he did to Ali. "Oh okay" Jy'Ere said sarcastically nice. " So what you wanna do?" Bentley said. I don't think Bentley was all the way there cause he literally just said he wanted to fight Jy'Ere and then asked "what you wanna do?" Like are you stupid. "Square the fuck up!, Come on whas up Bitch!"Jy'Ere yelled. Then Jy'Ere ran up on Bentley and they started fighting. They start punching, slapping, grabbing each other's hair, since both of there hair was pretty long. Jy'Ere was obviously winning because at the time Jy'Ere was 5'6 which was really tall for a 6th & 7th grader even though he was a year older. Then the teachers came and tried to separate them, but Jy'Ere jumped on Bentley and they both went crashing to the trash can. They made a mess on the black top, but it was worth watching. They obviously got detention but didn't have to serve until after school. Little did I know they would never that detention. The bell rang and we headed in inside. All of us had the same teacher so we just walked up stairs together minus Bentley. we walked into the class and we were greeted by Mrs. Middendorf. " Good Morning" she said drinking her cup of coffee as usual. "Good morning" we all replied. We took attendance and lunch count. Me, Jy'Ere, Ali, and Bentley were all in band so that was our first class. Then we had P.E, then we had Reading and ELA in Mrs. Morgan's class followed by Recess, Math and Science in Mrs. Middendorf's class, then we had lunch. I walked into the cafeteria and I sat down next to Catty & Ali, Then Jy'Ere came. I took a bite out of my food at it tasted weird it almost tasted like- "Hailey guess what!" "What" I said brushing off the weird taste. "What?" I said confused. "So you know how me and Ali tried out for the cheer team". Jy'Ere asked. "Yeah?" I said still confused. "We made it!" Jy'Ere exclaimed. "Omg that's great I'm happy for you guys!" Me and catty said unison. We ate are lunch and had more recess and played kick ball which was are favorite game in the world especially Jy'Ere's. When the whistle blew we went back inside and prepared for social studies. We walked into the classroom and we were greeted by Mrs. Morgan for the second time today. She walked in front the classroom and turned on the smart board. "Okay get out your papers cause were going to CNN 10" she said. We got our papers and began to watch CNN 10. Coy wire was the one who did the CNN 10 stories so we got used to seeing his face. Then something shocking happened. A story came on about how the U.S. was getting overpopulated and needed to get under control. It also talked about food shortage in Asia and it was bad. So Asia made a deal with the U.S. that if Asia took all the kids in the orphanages that the U.S. would provide Asia with food. It seemed a bit strange but it didn't seem to bother anyone else besides me and Jy'Ere. The school day ended and that was day that everything changed.
