September 22nd
“I hate this.” Dan said in a very annoyed tone as they entered the museum and were greeted by a staff member.
The museum was cool, unlike outside which was still warm, despite it being late September. A chill rushed down Dan’s back as the cold air of the museum hit him, making him shiver.“Come on dude, I promise you, it's not going to be that bad.” Wynton assured.
This morning, Wynton had come up to Dan asking him if he could accompany him to the museum with Jenny. Wynton had said that it wasn’t a date, but dan didn’t buy that for one minute. Lately, Jenny and Wynton have been acting awkward whenever they are around each other, too awkward.
Anyway, Wynton had practically begged Dan for him to come along, and Dan, as the good friend he is, had agreed, which had turned out to be a horrible idea.
“How do you know that it is not gonna be horrible?” Dan asked, “it might be good for you, but not for me.”Wynton groaned, “Why don’t you go to the act gallery? Don’t you like art?” he suggested as he came to a stop.
Dan thought about it for a minute. He did like Art, and he was also looking for inspiration since he was in an artist’s block, so Wynton did have a point there, but it was the fact that Dan had to be a third wheel that made him so moody, even though Jenny was still not here.
“Ughhhh, fine, I will go to the Art Gallery,” he said as he walked away from Wynton.—-----------------------------------------
Dan was starting to think that it was a bad idea to stray away from Wynton. As of now, he was standing in what seemed to be a history section. Next to him was a statue of some Historical figure he didn’t know.
Dan wasn’t sure of where he was, but he was sure that this wasn’t the Art Gallery and that he was lost.He walked around for a few more minutes looking at what historical artifacts and statues of important historical figures were on display before moving onto another section.
Luckily, this next section was the Art Gallery. There were paintings on display all around, sculptures, and all sorts of art all around. Now this was something he could enjoy.
The Museum was quiet. The only sounds that could be heard throughout the entire museum were the soft murmurs of people talking and the footsteps that echoed throughout the halls.
Dan stopped at a painting. The plaque under the painting read “The Meeting on the Turret Stairs, Frederic W. Burton (1864)”
He had seen this painting before, and he quite liked it. A painting that throbs with the angst of love, that is what “The Meeting on the Turret Stairs, Frederic W. Burton (1864)” is.Dan stared at the painting for a few more minutes, looking for inspiration.
Then, from the corner of his eye, he spots somebody familiar.Staring at him from a painting away was someone whom he never expected.
“MAGNUS?!” Dan yelled, causing people near him to turn his way and shush him.
“sorry, sorry” he apologizes quietly as he walks over to Magnus.“Magnus!” He says more quietly this time “Hi, what are you doing here?”
“I could ask you the same thing.” He responded as he took a step back. Magnus looked different than the last time Dan had seen him. His hair was longer, he had piercings on his face, he had gained a bit of muscle, and he was taller, way taller.
“I am looking at the art! And I also got dragged here by my friend because he didn’t want to go to his date-not-so-date alone. Then I left him to go to the art gallery but got lost in the history section before going here, the Art gallery, which is where I wanted to be!”
“Did not need to know all that.”
“What about you, Magnus? What are you doing here?”
“Uh, you could say the same thing as you. Although, I actually asked my friends if I could come along.” He said as he turned his head to look at the artwork he was looking at.
“The birth of Aphrodite, Ivan Aivazovsky (1887)” read the small copper plaque under the painting.“I didn’t know you liked Art.”
“There are lots of things that you don’t know about me. And I would very much like to keep it that way.” Magnus said as he started to walk away.
“Wait!” Dan called out as he started to follow the older boy through the crowd that started to form, “How is Emily?”
Magnus stopped walking abruptly, causing Dan to bump into him and stumble back, “Why do you care?”“Because Emily is my friend. Just because she is your sister doesn’t mean that I can’t talk to her or be her friend.” Dan said as he crossed his arms
“She’s doing fine.”
“Is she also here?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“She’s out with her friends, why do you care so much?!” Magnus asked, clearly getting irritated with many questions the younger boy was asking.
“If Emily isn’t here, then who are you with?”
“That is none of your busines-!”
“Maggie! There you are!” Said an unknown voice, cutting Magnus off, “We’ve been looking for you!”
The unknown person came up before Magnus and put her arms around his neck. She was very tall. She had very long wavy white hair with red streaks. She had star clips and glitter in her hair with big headphones that covered her ears. She had high cheekbones and tan skin with freckles scattered around her face that was being framed with red bangs and round gold glasses that hid a pair of dark red eyes.
She had a nose piercing and an eyebrow piercing. She also had a lip piercing. She had a camera that hung around her neck.“Oh, who is this?” She asked, looking at Dan. Her voice was quiet and soft, soothing and sort of Mellifluous with a spanish, maybe british, accent behind it.
There was another boy behind her, and he was even taller. He had jet black hair with an Orange streak. His hair was slightly curly and long. He had his hair up in a ponytail and had a cherry hair clip on his hair. He was pale, like super pale, and had a mole under his lip. He wore round shaped glasses that covered one black eye, and one milky white one.
He had snake bites piercings, a septum piercing, and two upside down heart earrings.Magnus sighed before talking, “Dan, this is Lucy, she’s my friend, and the boy behind her is Marigold, he is also my friend.”
“Hello, it is nice to meet you” Marigold said as he put his hand out for Dan to shake. His voice, unlike Lucy’s, was sort of loud and rough, still soothing but was also deep and gruff with a thick russian accent behind it.
While Marigold put his hand out for Dan to shake, Lucy was awkwardly waving as she hid behind Magnus, like a small child hiding behind their parents.“Wait a minute, You are Dan Kouzo, the famous superstar brawler that saved the world like 5 times, aren’t you?” Marigold asked as he stepped back. Marigold’s eyes wander over Dan, as if he was reading him.
“Oh, yeah that is me.” the shorter boy said awkwardly as he bounced back and forth on his heels.
“Well, it was nice to meet you, but we need to get going. We need to pick up Emily from her friend’s house.” Lucy spoke up as she started to leave. Marigold started to follow after her before turning back.
“Magnus, aren’t you coming?” He asked
“Go on without me, I will catch up” Magnus answered. Marigold nodded, and started to walk away.Lucy and Marigold walked off, leaving the two boys in an awkward silence.
“Didn't know you had friends aside from us” Dan said, trying to make small talk and break the awkward tension in the air, to which Magnus glared.“I don’t know where you got the idea that I was friends with you and your little group, but you are wrong. The only person I am friends with in your group is Ajit.” Magnus angerliy scowled.
Dan didn’t even know why he wanted to make small talk with Magnus. As far as he knew, Magnus hated him.
“I should go. I need to go pick up Emily.” The taller boy said as he strolled off.
Maybe it was his mind playing games on him, but he could've sworn that Magnus had a glint of guilt in his eyes and voice.Maybe Magnus was more interesting than Dan thought.
