Siyeon sat at her vanity, her makeup half done and hair still in curlers, when her phone buzzed on the table. It was a text from her manager, asking her to come by the studio that afternoon. Curious but not alarmed, she set her makeup brush down and called her..
"What's up?" she asked after dialing.
"I have something exciting," her manager's voice buzzed through. "You've been requested to sing a new OST."
Siyeon's eyes widened. "Really? For what drama?"
"It's for a new one called Beneath the Starlit Sky," her manager said, a little more enthusiasm slipping into her voice. "And you'll love this—the lead is someone you've probably heard of. It's Y/N! She was a trainee, trained for years to be an idol, do you remember? She was all over the news when she decided to switch to acting."
Siyeon's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Wait, Y/N? I remember her. She was supposed to debut in G-IDLE, right? "
"Exactly!" her manager replied, sounding almost giddy. "She suddenly stopped training and went ghost, but now she's acting, and this is her first lead role. And the production team specifically requested you for the OST! They wanted someone who could really capture the emotion of the story."
Siyeon's curiosity grew. The transition from trainee to actress was a big one, especially for someone who had been in the industry's training system for so long. "Wow, that's amazing for her," Siyeon said, a smile tugging at her lips. "I've got to hear this."
Her manager laughed. "I thought you'd be interested. The USB with the sample just arrived. I'll be there to give you the USB soon."
The rest of Siyeon's morning flew by in a blur of anticipation. When the USB finally arrived, she was in the studio within the hour. As she plugged the drive into her laptop and settled into her seat, she felt a familiar tingle of excitement. OSTs were something special—an opportunity to convey emotion and elevate a story. She couldn't wait to hear what they had in store for her.
The opening notes of the song flowed through her headphones, and her breath caught. It was beautiful, with a haunting melody that rose and fell in waves, perfectly balancing sadness and hope. She let it wash over her, eyes closed, picturing the kind of scene it might accompany. Every note, every chord, felt perfect, like it had been crafted just for her voice. Siyeon's heart swelled with excitement; this song was a masterpiece.
After a few more listens, she couldn't help but wonder what kind of drama it belonged to. Pulling up a browser, she searched for the title her manager had mentioned earlier—"Beneath the Starlit Sky." The synopsis appeared, but it wasn't the storyline that caught her attention—it was Y/N's name in the lead role. Siyeon clicked on her profile and smiled, recognizing her face, she was glad that she was doing good for herself.
"So this is her debut as an actress," Siyeon muttered, leaning back in her chair. "I always wondered what happened after she disappeared from the media" She didn't want to admit it but she always had a small crush on her, but it went away when she disappeared
Her manager's voice broke through the studio speakers. "What do you think? Exciting, right? She's perfect for the role, and with your voice on the OST... it's going to be incredible."
Siyeon's eyes sparkled as she removed her headphones, a grin spreading across her face. "It's perfect," she said, her voice breathless with excitement. "I can't wait to record it."
Her manager chuckled. "I knew you'd like it. You'll be recording in a few days."
With a nod, Siyeon pushed the chair back, the wheels making a soft sound against the polished floor. Her fingers absently twined in the cord of her headphones as she pulled them off, her mind still swirling with thoughts of the melody and Y/N's transition to acting. There was something thrilling about singing for someone who had a past in the industry but was now venturing into something new.
