"They'll be here any minute!" panicking as I tried to clean the last bit of the apartment. "Lena relax"
"No! they haven't seen my new place yet, I haven't seen them in months, Pablo I can't relax!" speaking erratically as I fluffed up some couch cushions. His strong arms wrap around my waist, ensuring I stopped moving, his chin rested on my shoulder, his hands interlocking over my stomach, my hand placed flat ontop. "it will all be fine, your mama will love the place, because she loves you, and your papa, well he loves me." I could see the boy wink in the mirror, leaning head back I placed it on his shoulder, his smirk only growing wider, my free hand came up, jokingly hitting the side of his face, tapping it ever so slightly. "no! Pablo no!" I spoke as you would to a dog or a child. He shook his head now laughing.
The sound of the doorbell ringing brought us out of our domesticated state. "Oh my god they're here!" Pablo, now also panicked. This time I was calm. "relax papi, it's all good, everything is ready"
"And you know they aren't staying here" adding on to my last statement.
I made my way to the door of mine and Pablo's shared apartment, I opened the door revealing my three little brothers, my mama and my papa.
Wasting no time, I threw my arms around my family. "¡Dios mío! ¡Los he extrañado chicos!"
"También te extrañamos cariña" my mama spoke, kissing the side of my cheek.
"Ay Pablo que bueno verte"
"También" Pablo waved over at my family, my youngest brother Ciro took my hand, bringing me inside the apartment, he was only four, I picked the little boy up, hugging him tightly. "Cómo estás?" I asked the little boy, he nodded his head in response "Soy tan bueno!"
"Sí? Vale" I laughed at his enthusiasm. "Te acuerdas de Pablo?" he shook his head, causing Pablo and I to smile. "Hola hombrecito, podré chocar esos cinco?" Ciro gladly gave his hand to Pablo, as hard as he could high fiving the boy, Pablo took his hand away shaking it, jokingly acting as if he doesn't get slammed to the floor by grown men for a living "ay ay ay, eres tan fuerte como tu hermana"
"Y ustedes dos, cómo estás?" I asked both Thiago and Mateo. "bien!" my six year old brother Mateo practically attached himself to my leg, while Thiago stood in awe of Pablo. "se amable y no mires, Thiago saluda"
It was as if he had seen a ghost, he could not get the words out, the adults in the room all laughed at the young boy, my papa picked the nine year old up, acting as though he was a puppet shaking his hand to wave. "tu hermana me mostró videos tuyos jugando fútbol, eres bueno, casi tan bueno como tu papá" Pablo ruffled Thiago's hair, the young boy shy'd away instantly.
"Come on you, leave your poor sister alone" my mama spoke to Mateo, prying him from my leg.
"He's all good mama, I've missed him"
"Now, Catelina show me around your apartment"
The two of us headed towards my bedroom, I carried Ciro still, he sat on my hip, his grip not loosening on me.
My mama looked around my home, she admired the decor. "It's beautiful mija"
"Thank you mama" she smiled at me, her smile was warm, helping me feel like home. "Catelina sweetie, will you come back with me, to Paris" I shook my head. "no, mama I will not. I am happy here, I love you, my family but I refuse to leave, this is where my school is, my friends. I can't"
"Fine, if that's what you wish" "yes, yes it is mama"
My family and I were going for brunch down the street, Pablo had training for his upcoming game, my papa offered to take him, and also spectate.
